Job summary

Bunge is seeking a Production Operations Supervisor for its Illinois site, located in Fairmont City. This role oversees day-to-day operations across crush, refinery, and packaging, ensuring safe, efficient production and strong safety practices.

Responsibilities include maintaining sanitation standards, reporting productivity, and supporting annual shutdown planning. A Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years in related industrial operations is required, with flexibility for odd hours and rotating shifts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering or related field or equivalent progressive experience of 5+ years in soybean crushing, oil refining, oil packaging operations, or related and applicable activities in support of industrial operations is required
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills, including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word and other technical software packages, as needed
  • Ability to work odd hours, weekends and rotating shift schedule required

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day production shift activities across crush, refinery, packaging, warehouse, boiler house, and elevator to maximize efficiency
  • Promote a safety culture and zero injuries through active leadership and safety initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation requirements and support monthly sanitation inspections and corrective actions
  • Monitor shift productivity and report improvements; approve daily reports and KPIs
  • Collaborate with Mgr-Production Ops and Plant Manager to plan annual shutdowns and support Process Safety Management programs

Role Purpose Statement

Responsible for the safe and efficient supervision of day-to-day assigned Crush, Refinery, or Packaging production operations department shift. Support the Mgr-Production Operations in monitoring and improving plant productivity.

Main Accountabilities
  • Cultivate a safety culture where unsafe acts are not tolerated and employees and management have a common goal of zero injuries.
  • Oversee assigned department production shift activities (crush, refinery, packaging, warehouse, boiler house, and/or elevator) to ensure operations are running at the highest levels of efficiency.
  • Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure assigned shift is compliant with sanitation requirements. May provide support in the monthly sanitation inspections and implementation of any corrective actions as necessary.
  • Track and report shift productivity improvements
  • Approve daily reports and KPRs for the assigned shift.
  • Report and trouble shoot operations issues.
  • Provide input to the Mgr-Production Operations and/or Plant Manager to plan annual shutdowns
  • Support Process Safety Management programs, where applicable
  • Work with the Safety/Environmental Manager to ensure compliance of assigned shift in all aspects
  • Help develop and drive Operations Excellence Plans to meet safety, quality and production goals and show continuous improvement in assigned shift.
  • Support the continuous improvement activities and act as a change agent for any changes that occur in the assigned shift.
  • Monitor KPR’s and help develop plans to bring assigned shift in line with Operations Excellence goals.
  • Periodically participate in the daily production meetings to remain informed and ensure that the assigned shift operations activities are aligned.
  • Participate in personnel investigations and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
