Job summary

Bunge is seeking a Plant Operations Manager in Destrehan, LA to oversee crush, refinery, milling and packaging operations, ensuring safe, efficient daily production and supporting the Plant Manager to improve productivity.

This role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent with 5+ years in related industrial operations, strong leadership, and the ability to manage sanitation, safety programs and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial/manufacturing/chemical engineering or equivalent with 5+ years in related industrial operations.
  • Proficiency with basic computer tools including Lotus Notes and MS Word.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee crush, refinery, milling, packaging, warehouse, boiler house and elevator operations for efficiency.
  • Manage monthly sanitation inspections and ensure corrective actions.
  • Track and report facility productivity improvements and daily KPIs (KPRs).
  • Assist Plant Manager with annual shutdown planning and operations excellence initiatives.
  • Support supervisor development and personnel investigations as needed.

A Day in the Life:

Responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day Crush, Refinery, Milling or Packaging production operations. Support the Plant Manager in monitoring and improving plant productivity.

Position Details:

Work Schedule: Standard (On-call 24/7 as needed)

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Cultivate a safety culture where unsafe acts are not tolerated and employees and management have a common goal of zero injuries.
  • Oversee assigned facility production activities (crush, refinery, milling, packaging, warehouse, boiler house, and/or elevator) to ensure operations are running at the highest levels of efficiency.
  • Manage monthly sanitation inspections and lead, monitor and ensure corrective actions are completed as necessary.
  • Track and report facility productivity improvements.
  • Approve daily reports and KPRs for the may be responsible for two or more departments.
  • Support and develop Crush, Refinery, Milling and/or Packaging Supervisors in operations issues and trouble shooting.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in planning annual shutdowns.
  • Oversee the Process Safety Management programs, where applicable.
  • Work with the Safety/Environmental Manager to ensure compliance in all aspects.
  • Responsible for developing and driving Operations Excellence Plans to help meet safety, quality and production goals and show continuous improvement throughout the facility.
  • Support the continuous improvement activities and act as a change agent for any changes that occur in the facility.
  • Monitor KPR's throughout the facility and help develop plans to bring teams in line with Operations Excellence goals.
  • Participate in daily production meetings to remain informed and ensure that the activities of all production operations management are aligned.
  • Monitor and manage product yields.
  • Participate in new employee selection process.
  • Assist Department Supervisors and Shift Supervisors with personnel issues by participating in investigations and recommending corrective actions as necessary.

Skills/Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering or related field or equivalent progressive experience of 5+ years in soybean crushing, oil refining, milling, oil packaging operations, or related and applicable activities in support of industrial operations is required.
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills, including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word and other technical software packages.
