Job summary

Bunge in the United States seeks a Production Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations in our Illinois facility. You will oversee crush, refinery, packaging shifts, ensure safety, quality, and productivity while coordinating with the plant manager.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field and at least 5 years in industrial operations, with willingness to work rotating shifts and odd hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial, manufacturing, chemical engineering or related field or 5+ years of progressive experience in soybean crushing/oil refining/packaging.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills (Lotus Notes, MS Word) and related software.
• Ability to work odd hours, weekends and rotating shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day production operations on the assigned shift (crush, refinery, packaging, warehouse, boiler house, elevator).
• Promote a safety culture with zero injuries as a goal for all employees.
• Ensure food safety and sanitation requirements are met; support monthly inspections and corrective actions.
• Track shift productivity and approve daily reports/KPRs.
• Collaborate with plant leadership to plan annual shutdowns and continuous improvement activities.

Role Purpose Statement:

Responsible for the safe and efficient supervision of day-to-day assigned Crush, Refinery, or Packaging production operations department shift. Support the Mgr-Production Operations in monitoring and improving plant productivity.

Main Accountabilities:

• Cultivate a safety culture where unsafe acts are not tolerated and employees and management have a common goal of zero injuries.
• Oversee assigned department production shift activities (crush, refinery, packaging, warehouse, boiler house, and/or elevator) to ensure operations are running at the highest levels of efficiency.
• Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure assigned shift is compliant with sanitation requirements. May provide support in the monthly sanitation inspections and implementation of any corrective actions as necessary.
• Track and report shift productivity improvements
• Approve daily reports and KPRs for the assigned shift.
• Report and trouble shoot operations issues.
• Provide input to the Mgr-Production Operations and/or Plant Manager to plan annual shutdowns
• Support Process Safety Management programs, where applicable
• Work with the Safety/Environmental Manager to ensure compliance of assigned shift in all aspects
• Help develop and drive Operations Excellence Plans to meet safety, quality and production goals and show continuous improvement in assigned shift.
• Support the continuous improvement activities and act as a change agent for any changes that occur in the assigned shift.
• Monitor KPR’s and help develop plans to bring assigned shift in line with Operations Excellence goals.
• Periodically participate in the daily production meetings to remain informed and ensure that the assigned shift operations activities are aligned.
• Participate in personnel investigations and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering or related field or equivalent progressive experience of 5+ years in soybean crushing, oil refining, oil packaging operations, or related and applicable activities in support of industrial operations is required
• Proficiency with basic computer skills, including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word and other technical software packages, as needed
• Ability to work odd hours, weekends and rotating shift schedule required
