PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR - EVENING SHIFT

EVENING SHIFT HOURS: Monday - Thursday (4:30 P.M. - 3:00 A.M.) 4 - 10 Hrs Days

OFF: Friday, Saturday, Sunday (unless additional hours are required)

Position Overview

The Production Supervisor will oversee our production operations on the Evening Shift. The position guarantees that manufacturing remains a smooth and efficient process by monitoring employees and organizing workflows. The Production Supervisor coordinates production schedule and activities with support departments and resolves production problems related to methods, tools, fixtures, materials, and manpower.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, prioritize, execute and monitor a production plan
  • Organize employees and department schedules
  • Direct efforts of manufacturing staff, ensuring all work is coordinated, downtime is minimized, and products meet established quality standards
  • Provide leadership and direction to all employees.
  • Manage building on-time complete and drops per labor hour. Work with leads on any improvements
  • Prepare and submit daily production reports on performance and progress. Then provide reports to manager
  • Review, analyze and identify cost, quality, schedule and inventory variances. Then develop and implement corrective actions for negative variances
  • Develop procedures and techniques to reduce process variation and manufacturing delays, while increasing productivity
  • Audit the production line and address efficiency/employee issues with the lead. Work to produce a solution while holding employees accountable
  • Confirm line machinery and tools are clean and functioning properly. Ensure all operators follow safety policies and protocols
  • Acquire an understanding of the purpose and reporting for Quaker's Open Book Management initiative. Then train production leads and other employees.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, development, administration of corrective action and evaluation of staff
  • Manage and coach a team of employees. Address employee concerns and complaints in a professional manner. Treat all employees equally
  • Display and promote Quaker's core values
  • Complete all mandatory training.
  • Communicate via email, plan and develop staffing schedules assigning employees to specific duties
  • Complete basic time keeping skills
  • Coordinate daily production activities with other shift managers
  • Fill in as a backup in the Building Manager's absence.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
  • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
  • Oversee the completion of assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.
  • Attend daily production meetings.

Supervisory Responsibility

The leadership and management responsibilities of this position include assigning and checking work of others. The position will also monitor staff performance and employee retention. The individual will train employees, provide performance feedback and complete any correction or discipline necessary. The supervisor will handle hires, salary adjustments, employee grievances and terminations for their team. Additionally, the supervisor will assist in determining means, methods and materials for performing work.

Safety

Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment); report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow job-specific safety requirements such as Safe Product Handling and Safe Lift.

Travel

Approximately <5% travel is required for commuting between the Quaker campuses or training.

Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Basic knowledge of Quaker's products including parts, vinyl profiles, and aluminum extrusions
  • Proficiency in Quaker's proprietary software

Education and Experience

The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.

  • High school diploma or a passed General Education Development test required
  • Associate's Degree in a relevant field
  • 2 Years Supervisory experience
  • 3 Years Manufacturing experience required

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.

EVENING SHIFT HOURS: Monday - Thursday (4:30 P.M. - 3:00 A.M.) 4 - 10 Hrs Days

  • It is an essential job function and safety rule, applicable to every employee working in a safety sensitive classified position, to be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to climactic variations, fumes or airborne particles, various levels of vibration, and moving mechanical parts. Various different types of Personal Protective Equipment might be required based on the employee's work location. The noise level in the work environment may require hearing protection.
