Job summary

BARNES is seeking a supervisor for our Utah manufacturing operations. You will oversee production, schedule management, and safety compliance while guiding a team toward quality and efficiency goals.

The role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration to meet customer specifications and improve methods. A bachelor’s degree and relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and ability to interface at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of processes and machines related to products manufactured within the business unit.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player approach.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned employees and ensure compliance with quality standards, customer specs, and company policies.
  • Understand and manage schedules and production to meet customer timelines.
  • Oversee personnel functions: interviewing, selection, performance evaluations, and discipline; focus on development.
  • Maintain all processes, equipment, employees, safety and housekeeping.
  • Know processes and equipment or know who to contact for information; troubleshoot issues with jobs/equipment.
  • Coordinate production with supervisors on other shifts for smooth transitions and ensure equipment is operational.

Job description

Core Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the supervision of assigned employees and ensures compliance with all quality standards, customer specifications, and company policies.
  • Understand and manage the schedules and production to meet customer schedules.
  • Administers the personnel functions for the department. This includes interviewing and selection of personnel, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action. Focus on UTL and Employee development.
  • Responsible for all processes, equipment, employees, safety and housekeeping.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment or knows who to contact for information.
  • Anticipates and trouble shoots problems with jobs and/or equipment and coordinates with other departments for resolution.
  • Ensures that established policies, rules and regulations and procedures are followed.
  • Coordinates production efforts with supervisors on other shifts for smooth transition.
  • Ensures that all equipment is operational and maintained per specifications.
  • Screen, interview, select and onboard new hires, conduct performance appraisals, coach and council employees.
  • Champion BES/lean measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years working in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years' experience in supervisory capacity
  • Excellent leadership and team skills required. Able to effectively interface at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of processes and machines related to products manufactured within a given business unit
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player approach
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access required
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or another related field highly preferred.
