Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Spend at least 95% of time on the production floor observing work and removing obstacles.
  • Establish SOPs and standard work for assembly procedures and safety.
  • Monitor schedules to meet target completion dates and communicate issues.
  • Promote accountability, safety, and teamwork across the assembly team.
  • Lead problem solving and assist with technical troubleshooting.
  • Use Excel to create, maintain, and analyze production KPIs.
  • Lead process-mapping and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain efficient, cost-effective product flow to hit delivery targets.

The Production Supervisor works closely with the Production Manager to maintain a safe work environment, coordinate manufacturing operations, assist in production schedules, drive continuous improvement through Lean practices, and support the growth and development of Production Technicians. This role is essential to improving operational efficiency, upholding production standards, and using data to inform decision-making.

  • Spend at least 95% of time on the production floor observing work, asking questions, validating processes, and helping remove obstacles for employees.
  • Partner with the Production Manager to establish written SOPs and standard work, including assembly procedures, process flows, and safety best practices.
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure target completion dates are met and communicate issues as they arise.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and teamwork across the assembly team.
  • Take a hands-on approach to problem-solving and support team members with technical troubleshooting.
  • Use Microsoft Excel to create, maintain, and analyze production reports and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Support and occasionally lead process-mapping and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality, and Logistics, to resolve production challenges.
  • Maintain an efficient and cost-effective flow of products through the production system to achieve delivery and financial targets.
  • Champion 6S implementation, sustainment, and team participation.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring technicians as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

Qualifications:

  • 5 – 7 years minimum experience in machine manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, coach, lead, and inspire team members.
  • Skilled in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Positive attitude with excellent communication, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service mindset for both internal and external customers.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and charting.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to use ladders safely.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed instructions, manufacturing procedures, and drawings.
  • Hands-on learner with strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Prior experience with ERP systems (Epicor, SAP, etc.) and production scheduling tools.
  • Familiarity with material management concepts and supply chain processes.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently exert up to 25 lbs. of force and occasionally exert 50 lbs.
  • Perform frequent stooping, balancing, crouching, reaching, and handling.
