Singer Vehicle Design is seeking a Production Supervisor, Assembly to lead a dedicated team in Torrance, CA. This onsite role requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery, with responsibilities spanning training, performance management, and continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to optimize processes and production flow, ensure accurate daily reporting, and foster a professional, high-performance work environment on the shop

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five or more years of related work experience in automotive, composite, or assembly environments.
  • Bonus points for three or more years of management experience in production.

  • Ensure all team members are trained in operational procedures and that the team works efficiently to meet goals.
  • Monitor performance and behavior to ensure adherence to policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Use metrics and recommend improvements to drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Provide technical expertise for complex issues to ensure efficient production flow.
  • Accurately report end-of-day production status for each vehicle build and associated parts.
  • Maintain a safe, organized workplace and support 5S activities.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to improve processes.

What You'll Do:
  • Ensure all team members are trained in operational procedures and that the team works efficiently and effectively to meet established goals
  • Monitor the individual performance and behavior of assigned team members to ensure adherence with Company/departmental policies, processes, and procedures
  • Use metrics and make recommendations to managers on ways to drive continuous improvement activities in safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Serve as a role model and facilitates effective communication throughout the team
  • Evaluate the work of assigned staff, provide feedback, and coaches and disciplines employees as needed to be sure that their performance meets job expectations
  • Work with the Production Manager to prioritize staffing/resource assignments ensuring capacity for equipment and labor is planned and available to meet demand
  • Communicate approved schedules to team members, approve vacation requests (so that production needs are met), and approve timecards in a timely manner to assure that submitted time is accurate
  • Coordinate and agree on weekly goals with management in alignment with business demands ensuring all areas of responsibility to be delivered on expectations; follow up directly with production manager when there are plan deviations/delays
  • Provide technical expertise for complex issues and ensures effective and efficient production flow
  • Accurately report end of day production status for each vehicle build and associated parts
  • Ensure that the workplace is clean, uncluttered, safe, and well organized to help reduce waste and optimize productivity (5S activities)
  • Ensure that work materials and tools are present when needed and communicate with relevant parties on re-stocking in advance of shortage to reduce delays in production
  • Evaluate, maintain, and coordinate equipment to uphold a safe environment and ensures consistent "right first time" quality of product; immediately reports problems or concerns regarding quality, processes, equipment and/or materials
  • Work closely with other departments such as Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to improve processes and resolve issues
  • Support other functions and departments as required based on operational need
Who We're Looking For:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least five (5) years of related work experience in an automotive, composite, and/or assembly environment
  • Bonus points for three (3) or more years of management experience in a production environment
  • Bonus points for technical automotive program graduate or equivalent
  • Solid technical background with hands-on experience in an automotive production and/or restoration environment
  • Skilled experience reading and interpreting part and assembly drawings, BOMs, etc.
  • Experience with making, restoring, and/or creating custom automotive parts
  • Experience with reading work/manufacturing orders
  • Experience in reading production schedules
  • Basic understanding of Lean Principles, 5S organization principles
  • Experience with common MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Highly motivated with strong work ethic that works well independently
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and can effectively communicate with other teams and departments
  • Strong competency to independently apply technical judgement, troubleshoot, and solve a wide range of technical problems
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Possesses leadership skills
  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment
Location & Schedule:

This role is onsite in Torrance, CA. The team you supervise works first shift: Monday - Friday 5am - 1:30pm.
