Job summary

ABB is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor in Mebane, NC. The onsite role leads a production team, ensures timely, cost‑effective output, and aligns with schedules, drawings, and safety standards. You will organize resources to hit line targets and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.

Ideal candidates have a manufacturing or related degree with several years of supervisory experience, SAP knowledge, and strong English communication. U.S. work authorization is required.

  • Identify deficiencies and oversee improvement actions.
  • Manage resolution of critical product or equipment issues with internal teams.

This position reports to: Production Manager

The work model for the role is: Onsite - Mebane, NC

Your role and responsibilities

In this position as the 2nd Shift Production Supervisor will lead a team within a production unit or line in the execution of production processes to transform parts and raw materials into ABB products in a timely, cost‑effective manner to achieve business overall metrics within the ABB values. Ensure continuous and efficient operation in accordance with volumes, schedules, procedures, drawings, and quality and safety standards and policies. You will also showcase your expertise by organizing and allocating resources to meet line production targets effectively and efficiently.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Ensuring that production scheduling and production plan meet the volume requirements agreed upon in the demand plan and defined inventory service levels.
  • Recommending technical equipment and facility improvements as necessary.
  • Identifying deficiencies in production area, proposing improvement activities, and overseeing implementation of actions to improve production performance.
  • Managing the resolution of critical product or equipment issues together with relevant internal teams.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred, PLUS minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing, production, or operations, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibilities OR Associate degree PLUS minimum 7 years related experience OR High School diploma/GED PLUS minimum 9 years related experience.
  • Experience working as a Production Supervisor, Team Lead, or similar role managing fabrication, assembly, or electrical/mechanical products, a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (such as SAP), production planning tools, and standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, with experience in problem‑solving and process improvement.
  • Effective communicator with strong English writing and speaking abilities.
  • Six Sigma certification, a plus.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
