Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. is located in Britt, Iowa, where more eggs are produced within a 100-mile radius than anywhere in the world. Small-town living and friendly faces make Britt, Iowa a place to call home. Our location is an egg processing facility that varies from breaking, pasteurization, to dried egg. Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for production processes by providing direction and supervising staff, ensuring that company policies, procedures, and government laws are followed. #Firstinpeople

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Produce the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost consistent with good manufacturing practices.
2. Provide a safe work environment for all personnel.
3. Recognize and take steps to resolve operation problems to minimize their impact on operations.
4. Request and direct services of maintenance, sanitation, safety, and other personnel as necessary to achieve the desired level and quality of production, sanitation, and warehouse services.
5. Cooperate with all departments to ensure a coordinated work relationship at all times.
6. Manage ingredient usage and all department costs.
7. Keep accurate and up-to-date records (e.g., timecards, downtime records, absentee records).
8. Enforce company policies fairly and consistently.
9. Encourage employee suggestions to improve production, quality, safety, and control costs.
10. Keep the processing manager informed about operational and employee issues, quality, safety, and costs.
11. Maintain consistent communication and conduct monthly department meetings.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
• 2+ years supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment with progressive leadership responsibility.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Effective speaking skills before groups, customers, vendors, or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to perform basic math operations and interpret data in graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various formats.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations.
• Ability to train and motivate personnel.
• Strong organizational and mechanical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and SAP.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
