Christensen Farms is one of the largest, family-owned pork producers in the United States, marketing approximately 3 million hogs per year. Headquartered in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, the company operates throughout the Midwest with facilities in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, and South Dakota. Christensen Farms owns four feed mills, manages 145,000 sows on 44 farms, and oversees more than 350 nurseries and grow-finish sites. The company employs nearly 1,000 people and maintains 1,500 contract partnerships.

Position Overview & Responsibilities:

The Feed Mill Supervisor – 2nd Shift is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day feed mill operations during the second shift, ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate production of high-quality feed. This role directly supervises 2nd shift personnel, providing direction, support, and hands-on leadership to ensure consistent operations and shift-to-shift continuity. The Supervisor upholds safety, quality, and operational standards, working closely with the Plant Manager, Assistant Feed Mill Manager, and other departments to meet production goals and maintain a high-performing team.

What You Will Do:

Operational Oversight

  • Lead all 2nd shift production activities, ensuring feed is produced on time, to specification, and in compliance with company quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor the performance of all feed mill systems and equipment; identify and resolve issues quickly to maintain production flow.
  • Ensure raw material handling, batching, grinding, pelleting, and loadout activities are performed accurately and efficiently.
  • Oversee unloading of ingredient and corn trucks and monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages.
  • Understand and operate the corn dryer during harvest periods as needed.
  • Coordinate with maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime and ensure timely resolution of mechanical issues.

Team Leadership

  • Provide direct supervision and support to all 2nd shift feed mill employees.
  • Assign tasks, adjust schedules as needed, and ensure appropriate staffing coverage for the shift.
  • Conduct regular shift meetings to review priorities, reinforce safety expectations, and address employee concerns.
  • Support onboarding and training for new team members, reinforcing standard operating procedures and safe work practices.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all company safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant work environment.
  • Conduct safety checks and address unsafe behaviors or conditions promptly.
  • Participate in safety meetings and initiatives to drive a proactive safety culture.

Communication & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate shift logs, production records, and equipment performance reports.
  • Communicate shift updates, performance issues, and operational concerns to plant leadership and across shifts.
  • Ensure all relevant shift documentation and reports are completed and distributed in a timely manner.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to process improvements and support the implementation of best practices to improve shift performance.
  • Provide feedback to leadership on staffing, training needs, and process enhancements.

Other Duties

  • Provide hands-on coverage during staff absences or high-demand periods.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support plant success.

This position will require operating a company vehicle, or occasional mileage reimbursement. Any employment offer for this position is contingent upon the review of your motor vehicle record (MVR).
