Job summary

Job description

Production Supervisor

Coordinates and directs the activities of the production department to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality. Inspects product to verify production specifications are met. Trains and supervises production personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all applicable state and federal requirements are met regarding OSHA, food safety, and fair employment practices in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of production operations and personnel to meet established production and quality control standards.
  • Ensure activities meet short-term goals established for production continuity and balance such as creating shift schedules, ordering materials, machine loading, grievance resolution, and equipment maintenance.
  • Work with other plant function areas as needed to ensure support in attaining output, productivity, and quality.
  • Schedule, train, and motivate production labor force to ensure consistent attainment of production schedules at optimum productivity and cost levels. Interview and recommend individuals for open positions.
  • Recommend improvements in production flow or methods.
  • Use operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and to improve product quality.
  • Notify management personnel of machines and/or equipment that could be modified to improve production and quality of products.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production demands as may be specified by customer or client.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED; College Degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1 or more years of previous supervisory experience with leadership skills of 20 employees preferred. Poultry or food industry experience is a plus.
  • Skills: Effective communication both orally and in writing, capable of independent decision making, basic computer knowledge, ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
