Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking two Production Supervisors for 1st and 3rd shifts at our Waukegan, IL facility. You will lead daily production planning, enforce safety, coach leaders, and drive Lean initiatives to improve quality and efficiency.

The role requires 2+ years of supervision in manufacturing (preferably chemical/paint/coatings), batch making experience, and SAP/MS Office proficiency. You must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and pass background/drug screenings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years leading production teams in manufacturing; chemical/paint/coatings experience preferred.
• Hands-on batch making experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; degree/some college preferred.
• Basic/Intermediate MS Office, basic math for batch quantities, SAP familiarity.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, operate forklift, pass pre-employment checks.

Chemical & Coatings Manufacturing

Location: Waukegan, IL

Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 / year + Overtime

Are you a proactive manufacturing leader looking for career growth? We are hiring two Production Supervisors—one for 1st shift and one for 3rd shift to drive effective, safe, and efficient manufacturing operations at our Waukegan facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations & Safety: Drive daily production planning, enforce site safety rules to ensure zero injuries, and investigate root causes for near misses.
• Team Leadership: Coach team leaders, manage indirect reports (>25), conduct performance reviews, and build an inclusive, high-performing environment.
• Quality & CI: Ensure process quality checks are completed, resolve short-term quality issues, and partner with Quality & CI teams to reduce waste and boost efficiency using Lean tools.
• Cross-Functional Partnering: Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to troubleshoot equipment and address technical issues.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: Minimum 2 years leading/supervising production teams in a manufacturing environment. Experience in chemical/paint/coatings manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Batch Making: Hands-on batch making experience is strongly preferred.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Degree/Some College preferred.
• Technical Skills: Basic/Intermediate MS Office, basic math comprehension for batch quantities, and familiarity with SAP.
• Physical Abilities: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, maneuver drums up to 900 lbs, operate a forklift, and navigate hot/cold environments. Must pass pre-employment physical, background check, and drug screen.

Compensation & Benefits (Day 1 Access!)

• Competitive base salary of $75,000 – $85,000/yr
• Straight-time overtime eligibility (after 44 hours; calculated at annual salary ÷ 2,080 hrs)
• Up to 5% annual bonus potential

Responsibilities

• Ensures production is carried out according to production planning and ensures production priorities are being followed.
• Ensures all site safety rules are strictly followed to that no injuries occur and looks for root cause for all incidents and near misses.
• Ensures all process quality checks are being performed in accordance with established procedures.
• Communicates targets and continuously measures and communicates status against these targets.
• Monitors the technical state of installations and take appropriate actions to resolve issues together with Maintenance and Engineering department.
• Resolves short term quality issues together with Quality department, initiate structural problem solving of quality issues.
• Works with CI and Shift Supervisors to implement (lean) tools to improve production efficiency,
• reduce costs and reduce waste.
• Inputs on CI/ ALPS projects and takes action to support (new) management initiatives.
• Coaches Team Leaders for performing their roles, amongst others to lead daily effective team
• meetings and ensure daily situational problem solving.
• Is familiar and complies with all the applicable corporate as well as site and laboratory
• policies/procedures with regard to personal conduct, HSE and Product Safety & Regulatory

The essential functions of this role include:
