Job description

Job Title: Production Supervisor
Location: Watkins Glen, NY

Type: Direct Hire
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Hours: 6am-3pm


Summary:
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for all the functions of the movement of materials and product in and out of the facility while working closely with shop floor personnel and management to maintain a continuous, safe and efficient workflow.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an associate degree (A.S.) with 5 years of related manufacturing experience in a supervisory role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to provide leadership to and direct/review the work of +/- 20 unionized employees.
  • Must be willing and flexible enough to work 2nd or 3rd shift on occasion as business requires.
  • Must have familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills; flexibility and ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Displays an attitude conducive to progress through positive change, continuous improvement and active contributor to the teamwork concept.
Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Directly supervises union employees in accordance with company’s policies, applicable laws, and union contract language. This includes, but not limited to, training, planning, assigning, directing, disciplining, rewarding, and appraising assigned workforce.
  • Ensures the accurate reporting of employee time and accounts to be charged to payroll and finance.
  • Regularly communicates expectations, performance and other key issues with team members. Serves as primary contact with shop and office personnel related to the integrity of material flow.
  • Ensures effective operation of packaging, shipping and receiving areas to meet assigned goals. Assists shipping clerks and other personnel when needed to maintain consistent and efficient workflow.
  • Assists in maintaining metrics of shipping areas such as tonnage and labor statistics using advanced computer programs such as Excel.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of safety, cost and quality improvement plans.
  • Ensures the compliance of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), BRC (Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) regulations and procedures. Holds department/shift responsible for quality checks, documentation, and monitoring.

Responsibilities/Duties (continued):
  • Monitors machinery and check points for efficiency, and coordinates efforts with maintenance for any issues or concerns. Makes sure that employees are performing their daily inspections on the physical condition of equipment as well as housekeeping initiatives under assigned area.
  • Oversees the in and out bound of raw materials ensuring it is organized and stored appropriately. Conducts monthly count/recounts of raw materials.
