Job summary

The Atlas Group in Park City, KS is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee daily aerospace manufacturing operations on the production floor. You will lead shop personnel, coordinate workflow, and drive continuous improvement while meeting safety, quality, and delivery goals.

Qualifications

Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production floor within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with aerospace quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Production Supervisor leads and supports shop personnel, coordinates workflow and drives continuous improvement to meet production goals while maintaining the highest levels of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

Operational Leadership:

  • Provides communication between the shop floor and internal support groups to address all requests for information, quality issues, schedule priorities, and delivery performance
  • Ensures shop floor schedules are adhered to and estimated completion dates are provided and accurately maintained
  • Processes employee timecards daily
  • Assists in organization of work staging areas as needed to maximize productivity through lean activities
  • Ensure operators have the tools and materials needed to perform their job
  • Monitor and maintain internal shop schedules including ensuring ecd's and status notes are input daily, adhering to work schedules, tracking queue days and LTN's in each area
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Assist in organization of work staging areas as needed to maximize productivity
  • Complete RCCA's as required
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction and productivity gains
  • Ensure safety guidelines and company safety policies are being followed
  • Consistently acts in accordance with business professionalism principles including during business hours, at company events, meetings, off-site meetings, audits, etc.
  • Consistently provides professional business communications to internal and external customers, staff, peers and company leadership

Team Development and Leadership:

  • Guide, coach and mentor direct reports ensuring those in supervisor/manager/lead roles provide proper support and guidance to their direct reports
  • Ensure direct reports are carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws with the guidance of HR; including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and team work to staff at all levels
  • Provide clear communication and direction to staff at all levels

Financial Management:

  • Monitor overtime to ensure utilization is necessary
  • Monitor and minimize shop down time
  • Monitoring and Reviewing scrap and implement RCCA to reduce/eliminate
  • Reduce/eliminate equipment repair costs by ensuring preventative measures are in place and being executed

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead change management initiative to adapt to evolving industry standards
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiencies
  • Has authority to stop any production order for quality concerns
  • Ensure all employees wear appropriate PPE in designated areas as required
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

  • Team oriented with strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Detail oriented with meticulous work habits and strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical documents
  • Willingness to apply hands-on approach in supporting customer activities and to step in when needed, not just observe
  • Strong ability to set priorities, solve problems, and be resourceful when under pressure
  • Comfort and experience interfacing with various levels of staff and management while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must demonstrate a sense of urgency and dedication to supporting customer requirements
  • Quality orientated, must understand requirements of AS9102

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or Five years supervision experience in aerospace manufacturing background or equivalent.; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication processes.
  • Previous experience in production environment leadership role required.
  • Previous computer use required
  • MRP or ERP system experience preferred
  • Aviation background preferred
