Job summary

A. Stucki Company is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing operations at our Birmingham Rail facility in Youngstown, OH. This role focuses on safety, quality, and productivity, with responsibility for coaching hourly staff and ensuring schedules are met.

You will collaborate across Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Supply Chain to minimize downtime and drive improvements, while supporting hiring, onboarding, and development initiatives.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience in heavy industrial settings.
• Proven ability to lead hourly production employees and promote accountability.
• Knowledge of Lean, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methods.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with coaching and feedback skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily production activities for an assigned shift and meet schedules.
• Lead startup meetings, communicate priorities, and reinforce safety.
• Monitor performance and address safety, quality, productivity or output issues.
• Provide hands-on leadership and accountability to hourly workers.
• Establish and maintain shop floor structure and staffing allocation.
• Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Supply Chain.
• Support interviewing, onboarding, training, and employee development.
• Enforce policies, safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
• Complete shift reports, production documentation, and handoffs.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Assist Director of Operations with continuous improvement initiatives.
• Open and close the facility as needed.

We are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing operations at our Birmingham Rail facility in Youngstown, OH. This individual will oversee daily production activities, lead and develop hourly employees, and ensure production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and with a strong focus on quality. The ideal candidate is an experienced manufacturing leader who can drive accountability, solve problems, and build a positive, high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily production activities for an assigned shift, ensuring production schedules and operational goals are met.
• Lead shift startup meetings, communicate production priorities, and reinforce safety expectations.
• Monitor production performance and address issues impacting safety, quality, productivity, or output.
• Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and accountability to hourly production employees.
• Establish and maintain an effective organizational structure on the shop floor.
• Manage employee attendance, staffing assignments, and labor distribution to maximize productivity.
• Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Supply Chain to minimize downtime and resolve production challenges.
• Support interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, and employee development initiatives.
• Enforce company policies, safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards, including progressive discipline when necessary.
• Complete shift reports, production documentation, and shift handoffs.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency.
• Assist the Director of Operations with continuous improvement initiatives and overall plant performance objectives.
• Open and close the facility as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting.
• Proven experience leading and developing hourly production employees while promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to manage production schedules, staffing, labor allocation, and workflow to achieve production objectives.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate expectations, provide coaching, and deliver constructive feedback.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) with experience using ERP/MRP systems or other manufacturing software preferred.
