Job summary

Ellwood-Texas-Forge-Houston in Houston seeks a capable supervisor for the cutting department. You will oversee daily scheduling, coordinate with HR on team matters, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental procedures.

You will identify material traceability, review work orders, operate and understand production equipment, mentor team on procedures, and participate in data entry to maintain accurate records and performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Observe safety, health and environmental procedures at all times.
• Maintain material traceability per operational requirements.
• Review work orders, sketches, schedules and verbal instructions before starting each shift.
• Measure and inspect parts using calipers, gauges, micrometers to ensure specs.
• Mentor and train team members on safety, quality and customer focus procedures.

Responsibilities

• Daily decision-making responsibility for the cutting department, including scheduling, discipline, promotions, engagement and issue resolution.
• Work with Human Resources on HR-related concerns involving team members.
• Observe all safety, health and environmental procedures.
• Ensure identification of material is maintained throughout production.
• Receive instructions from management and computer systems; review and start work orders at shift start.
• Operate production equipment to understand processes and equipment.
• Direct and assist production crew daily.
• Identify and remove waste from production processes.
• Mentor and train team on compliance with safety, quality and operating procedures and customer focus.
• Share knowledge to improve understanding, performance and satisfaction.
• Measure and inspect parts and maintain data entry for traceability.
• Assist maintenance during repair of equipment and furnaces as required.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Daily decision-making responsibility for the cutting department, inclusive of scheduling, Discipline, Promotions, Engagement and Issue Resolution
• Work with Human Resources to address any HR-related concerns, issues or tasks involving team members
• Observe all safety, health and environmental procedures.
• Ensure identification of material is maintained throughout the production process.
• Receives instructions and necessary information from Management and computer systems. Receives and works from work orders, sketches, schedules, charts, blueprints and verbal instructions. Reviews each work order before starting the production process at the beginning of each shift to make sure all information is correct
• Operate various pieces of production equipment in order to intimately understand both the production process and equipment
• Direct and assists production crew daily
• Identify and remove waste from production processes
• Mentor and assist with training of team members on compliance with all applicable safety, quality, and operating procedures and the importance of customer focus.
• Share knowledge on production processes and job duties to help others improve in their understanding, work performance, and satisfaction.
• Measure and inspect parts using various inspection tools (Calipers, Gauges, Micrometers, etc.) to ensure conformance to product specifications.
• Completes required operational data entry and maintains material traceability per operational requirements.
• Assist maintenance during repair of equipment and furnaces as required.
