Job summary

Amrize North America is seeking a Production Supervisor at Sparrows Point Cement Plant MD to oversee daily operations, run heavy equipment, and ensure safe, efficient production. You will coordinate with maintenance, QA, and logistics to meet plant KPIs and manage 12-hour rotating shifts.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years in a supervisory role in heavy industry, strong computer skills (Excel, SAP, Maximo), and a bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred; travel in the area may be

Qualifications

  • Education: Associates/College Degree.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field is preferred or relative experience.
  • Preferred field of study: Mechanic/Electric/Computer Science.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience with progression of responsibility, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in a cement plant or heavy industry preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform start-up, normal operation, and shutdown of the referenced systems.
  • Perform equipment inspection, preventative and minor maintenance, and housekeeping tasks.
  • Execute quality checks to ensure mill operation within specs and inventory levels.
  • Operate mobile equipment to maintain piles and feed dryer/mills.
  • Run forklift, skid steer, sucker truck, and sweeper for housekeeping and tasks.
  • Initiate daily activities of Granulation, dryer, and finish mills to meet demand.
  • Daily plan delivered by Production Coordinator; adjust operations accordingly.
  • Troubleshoot problems and report findings to Production Coordinator.
  • Work with Maintenance Inspector/Coordinator and adhere to safety policies.
  • Respect union labor agreement within Production department.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Production Supervisor will work to ensure that plant is producing material throughout the dayby controlling the automated system, running heavy equipment, executing preventative andminormaintenance, housekeeping, loading material and running the mills.

The ProductionSupervisor will work closely with management and other departs to ensure the successful operationof plant equipment. The employee will have contact with Customers and Vendors and is expected toact with Amrize's best interests in mind.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Perform start-up, normal operation, and shutdown of the referenced systems.
  • Perform equipment inspection, preventative and minor maintenance as well asgeneral housekeeping and miscellaneous tasks associated with production.
  • Execute quality checks to ensure the mill is operating within quality specifications and thatinventory levels are maintained.
  • Operates mobile equipment to ensure piles are maintained and the dryer and mills are fed.
  • Will need to run a forklift, skid steer, sucker truck, and sweeper for housekeepingand miscellaneous tasks
  • Initiate the daily activities of the Granulation, dryer, and finish mills to meet plant demands.
  • The daily plan will be delivered by the Production Coordinator.
  • Perform routine quality checks and adjust mill operations to stay within set parameters.
  • Works closely with Maintenance, Distribution, Quality, and process to meet plant KPIs.
  • Ensure effective troubleshooting of any problems in the department and report findings to theProduction Coordinator.
  • Works with the Maintenance Inspector/Coordinator.
  • Follows the union labor agreement within the Production department.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety andenvironmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety andexhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education:Associates/College Degree
Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in technical field is preferred or relativeexperience.
Preferred field of study:Mechanic/Electric/Computer Science
Required Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years related experience with demonstrated progression of increasedresponsibility, with at least 5 of those years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in a cement plant or other heavy industry is highly preferred.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

Required Computer and Software Skills: Solid computer skills (Excel, Word, TIS, SAP, Maximo,Lotus Notes etc.)
Travel Requirements:Some travel throughout the immediate area

Additional Requirements
  • Computer skills, general working knowledge, as well as the ability to learn new softwareprograms as required to operate the mill and other essential functions.
  • Good Communications Skills
  • Normal working hours are 12 hour rotating shifts
  • Heavy machine operation a plus
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approvedPersonal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees thatare required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the facein order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
