Job description

Join the University of Dayton Research Institute as a Production Supervisor! This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to oversee daily dining services operations in a vibrant, inclusive environment dedicated to excellence in education and service.

Under the direction of the Production Chef, you will support food production, planning, serving, panning, and packaging. You will supervise all employees and students involved, maintaining high standards of quality, sanitation, and efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience in food service preparation
  • Willingness to work varied schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Experience with food processing equipment such as fryers, grills, slicers, steamers, combi-ovens, woks, and choppers
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, understanding)
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks like bending, pushing, and pulling
  • Visual ability to differentiate colors for food safety
  • Basic math skills for production calculations
  • Enjoyment working with students and a diverse staff
  • Personal qualities such as integrity, attention to detail, good judgment, and teamwork skills
  • Managerial ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain within a year
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Culinary, Business, or Hospitality Management
  • Two years supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Cbord software
  • Experience in high-volume food production settings like universities, hospitals, hotels, or restaurants
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Application Instructions

Submit a cover letter addressing each minimum and applicable preferred qualification. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. The position is 10 months/year, full-time, with a primary shift from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, including rotating Sundays.
