Job description

Pioneer Industries (an ASSA ABLOY company) is adding a Production Team Lead for our manufacturing facility in Carlstadt, NJ.

What would you do as our Production Supervisor?

As our Production Supervisor you would be responsible for efficiently executing the workflow process, increasing productivity with innovative methods, and motivating your team for better performance. You will utilize lean methods to improve processes. Your role will also be responsible for leading a team, all training, ensuring maximum product quality, achieving production goals, and ensuring that safety, quality, and delivery goals are met for the business.

You would also:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the manufacturing of products to deliver on-target results for key performance metrics.
  • Promote environmental, health, and safety philosophies and processes that reduce workplace injuries and environmental impact.
  • Reduce rework and optimize quality in production and manufacturing processes.
  • Manage employee performance, provide feedback to develop a strong and effective team; implement necessary corrective actions.
  • Assist in the recruiting and onboarding of new hires; train, and mentor new hire/employees.
  • Maintain communication between employees and senior management to ensure optimum efficiency and provide communication to employees.
  • Drive a daily operating focus that maximizes the effectiveness of the facility and promotes collaborative problem solving on the team level.
  • Lead team to exceed customer expectations and timely follow up on quality matters to deliver top performing metrics.
  • Execute production planning to optimize efficiency and on-time delivery.
  • Support Team Leads by developing and following up on action plans, investigating solutions and advising on decision-making.
  • Advance a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead initiatives for employee involvement and engagement.
  • Promote and drive compliance to all standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.
  • Actively participate in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees.
  • Compliance with federal, state, local and corporate governance policies, regulations and laws, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.

What we are looking for:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred. Two years of supervisory experience is preferred. Alternatively, a minimum of 4 years’ experience in manufacturing and 2-4 years’ Team Lead experience within manufacturing may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated expertise in LEAN manufacturing techniques, Kaizen and Process Improvement.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, related fields, or door components is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, word, Power Point, Outlook
  • Familiarity with ERP software and reporting tools is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Background in work planning and production scheduling.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience in manufacturing with highly customized products is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CNC equipment is a plus.
  • Prior experience in improving employee satisfaction.
