Job description

Plan, direct and coordinate all manufacturing functions and related maintenance service functions for production. Assist in planning production schedules ensuring finished product shipping schedules are achieved. Work within existing inventory and budget levels to produce product. Assist Manufacturing Manager in attaining department goals.

The responsibility of this position includes coordination with the Press & Turn, Decoration and Glazing Departments, Maintenance Departments and other departments to achieve the production plan and master schedule.

The additional challenges of this position relate to meeting diversified production schedules within established time, quality and cost standards and to seek new production productivity. Scrap reduction, in particular, represents an ongoing challenge requiring coordination among all department personnel.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Responsible for overall departmental Safety, Productivity and Quality levels.
  2. Conduct shift employee meetings on a daily basis and follow up with contiguous shift supervisors to ensure employee meetings are held with proper follow-up.
  3. Supervise departmental safety programs, responsible for departmental safety performance and participate in plant safety meetings as required.
  4. Supervise departmental preventive maintenance and tool conservation programs in conjunction with programs established by plant maintenance coordinator.
  5. Responsible for departmental enforcement of company policy and shop rules.
  6. Responsible for departmental inventories and departmental operating budgets.
  7. Review and monitor the implementation of engineering changes and improvements to machinery and equipment to maximize departmental capacity, capability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This includes good feedback communication to manufacturing engineers in charge of the projects.
  8. Attend, as necessary, daily, weekly and monthly production meetings with the Manufacturing Manager to set departmental focus and backorder priorities.
  9. Communicate the status of material shortages or delays or capacity limitations to the Operations Manager. Initiate actions to prevent future recurring issues.
  10. Each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent a violation of the Federal-Mogul Integrity Policy. All employees will abide by their location’s EH&S policy endorsed by the local management, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established under its EHSMS, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard. An employee should report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself. Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree preferred, but will accept the equivalent in completed coursework combined with work experience or the education ascertained from working five years in a manufacturing shop of similar size and complexity.

Minimum Experience Requirements

  1. Prefer three years experience in high volume production operations.
  2. Personnel practices, human relation skills and in-depth experience in operating in a union environment.
  3. Must have experiences that will transfer to administering a Collective Bargaining Agreement and Plant Rules.
