Job summary

Engineered Wire is seeking a Production Supervisor to directly oversee manufacturing operations on-site, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory targets are met. You will plan with plant leadership, enforce standard work, and drive root-cause analysis for defects.

The role requires a technical degree or equivalent supervisory experience in manufacturing, plus Lean implementation experience and strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical/engineering field or equivalent combination of education and 1–3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement is preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication and leadership abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise production operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost and inventory goals.
• Coordinate production activities with Superintendents/Plant Managers to achieve objectives.
• Follow standard work and daily schedules to maintain efficiency.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of a Production Supervisor

• Direct and supervise production operations in order to meet or exceed Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory goals for the department and shift assigned.
• Coordinate production activities through planning with Superintendents and/or Plant Managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Follow Leader Standard Work and Daily Schedule.
• Support customer requests and work to identify and eliminate root causes to defective product.
• Ensure operators are trained and certified to perform tasks and objectives.
• Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
• Lead with integrity and in a way that earns respect and trust from operators.
• Ensure that operators are engaged, developing skills, and taking ownership of their responsibilities.
• Ensure the department is organized and clean.
• Implement and maintain Lean Manufacturing methods and tools.

Qualifications and Skills of a Production Supervisor

• Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools.
• Degree in a technical, engineering or relevant field is required; or combination of education and 1-3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with implementing Lean Manufacturing principles is preferred.
• Must be a well-organized individual that can manage multiple tasks and problem solve.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with both the direct and indirect workforce.
• Should have working experience with the company planning and scheduling system.
