The Production Planner / Scheduler is responsible for creating and monitoring the production planning function. Analyzes capacity and inventory and draws conclusions on how to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize costs. Using the ERP System (IQMS), the position holder will procure components, raw material and the completion of WIP. The position holder will work with various departments to monitor the organization’s progress in meeting the production schedule. The position holder will proactively communicate and formulate alternative production plans when orders are at risk of not shipping on time.

The goal is to utilize the ERP system to properly manage capacity, inventory, supply and demand to improve customer responsiveness, flexibility, internal/external scheduling and reduce execution costs.

Reports to the Director of Supply Chain

Interacts daily with Production Personnel, Program Managers, Engineering, Customer Service, Shipping/Receiving and Administration External

Primary contact with all suppliers pertaining to new and existing purchase orders

Responsibility/ Accountability

Develop and execute production plans consistent with customer requirements, available capacity, sales forecasts and corporate objectives.

Drives continuous improvement in the overall planning process through lean and industry standard practices.

Analyzes production schedules on a regular basis, collects data, acquires feedback and develops action plans to recover from deviations, which may involve raw material shortages, vendor mishaps, customer expedites, labor shortages, and machine downtime.

Monitors in-plant movement of materials to meet production cycle times and material shelf life.

Prepare and present analysis on schedule status and overall performance to schedule.

Communicate with supervisors, managers and cross-functional staff to ensure internal and external customer needs are being met.

Ensure that production has the necessary schedules to execute the orders in the required timeframe, using the relevant resources and in the correct priority to meet customer commitments

Chairs the production meetings, acts as the primary voice of the customer to the organization to ensure that customer expectations are met. Identifies and actively communicates risks to schedule attainment

Review production and supply chain capacity versus demand regularly, communicate gaps during production meetings, offers solutions as appropriate

Assist to eliminate roadblocks impacting overall supply chain

Provide the central point of contact regarding the status of customer orders and production availability, including proactive / early warning of issues or delays that could impact our ability to deliver customer commitments. Oversee and drive improvement in the key departmental metrics (schedule integrity, delivery performance/service, lead times, capacity planning and constraints resolution, inventory.)

Resolves issues by applying root cause analysis methodology and assigning countermeasures.

This position interfaces with customers and sales representatives, value stream and production leads, and other functional personnel to ensure all manufacturing KPIs are on target.

Demonstrates a proactive and urgent sense, to assist in customer order promising, customer delivery difficulties, and managing capacity constraints.

Ensure manufacturing data is kept current in our ERP System

Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational/Professional Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, or related field preferred

5–10 years of experience in production planning. Rubber experience preferred.

2–4 years in a supervisory role preferred

General Requirements

Familiarity with ERP and WMS systems (IQMS)

Strong understanding of production planning and procurement practices.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends if necessary
