Job summary

Ocean Optics in Orlando, FL is seeking a Production Planner to coordinate production planning, scheduling and inventory availability to support on-time order fulfillment. You will partner with cross-functional teams to optimize material flow and drive continuous improvement.

You will analyze BOMs, lead times, and stock levels, develop planning reports, and support Lean initiatives. The role is on-site and requires strong analytical skills and ERP/MRP proficiency, including MS Dynamics 365.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3–5+ years in Production Planning experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and supply chain principles (MS Dynamics 365 preferred).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule production with value-stream leads and supervisors.
  • Verify stock availability for open orders and backlog.
  • Engage with Kanban processes and lead-time management.
  • Develop and maintain planning and inventory analysis reports.
  • Review raw material min/max levels and lead times.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of inventory supply issues.
  • Support daily management meetings to meet KPIs (SQDIC).
  • Lead continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join world-class experts in finding answers to our customers’ toughest questions as a Production Planner. Reporting directly to the Sr. Supply Chain Manager, the Production Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling production, managing inventory availability, and supporting on-time order fulfillment. The Production Planner partners with cross-functional teams to optimize material flow, maintain planning data accuracy, resolve supply issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational performance. This is an on-site role in Orlando, FL.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with Value-stream Leads / Supervisor / Managers for planning / scheduling orders

Verify inventory – stock availability for open orders as well as orders in the backlog

Focused engagement with specified Kanban processes, inventory levels, pull system requirements and their impact on actual production status

Develops and upkeeps key planning and inventory analysis reports

Periodic review of raw materials min/max levels and lead times

Root cause analysis of inventory supply issues

Reviews discrepancies in BOM’s and ensures accuracy

Support Daily Management meetings to meet / exceed Operations KPIs (SQDIC)

Possess a mindset of Continuous Improvement and lead/support Lean initiatives to improve systems/processes.

Perform other tasks / job responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor / Manager.

Great communication skills, both verbal and written – upstream and downstream (cross-functional).

Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

Our ideal candidate brings the following knowledge and experience:

Strong statistical and analytical background

Production Planning experience

Self-motivated with desire to improve processes

Cross functional mentality with strong leadership skills

SIOP, inventory control, and forecasting experience

Strong understanding of ERP driven systems and processes

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or equivalent, 3-5+ years in Production Planning Experience.

Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and supply chain management principles, preferably Microsoft D365, cycle counts, BOM's, item attributes.

Be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Strong analytical skills with great attention to detail bringing a history of successful data analysis and advanced Excel proficiency.
