Production Operator I

Performs a variety of tasks requiring knowledge of production processes and is responsible for day-to-day operations associated with the production lines.

Essential Functions
  1. Maintain the overall operation of a production line, including starting and stopping all equipment (palletizers, carton makers, carton sealers, drop packers, injection, etc.) as applicable.
  2. Perform minor adjustments to production equipment as directed. No mechanical work without prior approval.
  3. Accurately complete and update information forms and logs such as Machine Report, Quality Report, Downtime Report, and Carton Top Load Report.
  4. Recognize unsafe conditions and actions, follow plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operations. Use personal protective equipment where required.
  5. Maintain general housekeeping in all production areas, including break rooms and rest rooms. Bale plastic, cardboard, and contaminated bottles when needed; grind bottles when needed.
  6. Keep raw materials such as bottle caps, labels, cartons, trays, wraps, pallet glue, slip sheets, etc., in adequate amounts to ensure continuous operation.
  7. Maintain quality standards according to company standards; fill out hourly inspection sheets based on overall production quality. Report all quality defects immediately.
  8. Work in multiple production areas with minimal supervision; perform relief duties when required.
  9. Troubleshoot minor production equipment issues and collaborate with maintenance as necessary.
  10. Understand computer systems such as Oracle/MES or current order management system.
  11. Understand line flow and manufacturing process to maximize throughput.
  12. Communicate issues clearly and concisely.
  13. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  14. Work 12-hour shifts, day or night, on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years experience in the position.
  • No experience managing people/projects required.
  • Experience operating multiple manufacturing machines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 years experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
  • 4 years experience in the position.
  • 2 years managing people/projects.
