Job summary

Jobtailor in Kansas is seeking a practical, safety‑minded Chemical Operator to support ESH compliance and maintain smooth production of phosphates. You will unload raw materials, load bulk trucks, and operate packing systems while following cGMP requirements.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift 50 lbs, and willingness to work in confined spaces with protective gear during rotating shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
• Must be able to work in confined areas while wearing protective clothing & equipment
• Must be able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision, rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and computer applications
• Good reading and comprehensive skills
• Must be able to learn new duties and progress to chemical operator level
• Must be capable of operating a fork truck
• Must successfully complete RCRA introductory/orientation training
• Must successfully complete RCRA annual refresher training
• Must reside within a commutable distance to Lawrence, KS
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not provided
• Must be physically able to lift and carry 50 lbs. further than 10 feet on a frequent basis

Job description

• Support ESH Compliance
• Follow all plant safety rules and procedures for handling phosphates
• Follow all applicable ICL safety requirements
• Follow plant emergency procedures
• Complete all required training
• Perform job safely, in an environmentally sound manner and in accordance with all cGMP requirements
• Handle and unload raw materials
• Pack materials using manual, semi-automatic, and automated packing systems
• Restock packaging supplies
• Load and unload trailers using a fork truck
• Load and unload bulk trucks
• Perform clean-up and housekeeping
• Troubleshoot process problems and product flow
• Check and adjust feed liquor specific gravity
• Operate furnace burners, level, and temperature controls
• Pump feed liquor to furnaces and control flow
• Operate auxiliary equipment, including chill wheel, elevator, Buffalo mills, hammer mill, hummer screen, Rotex screener, dust collector, baggers, cooling tower, product scalping screeners, pneumatic blowers, bucket elevators, and conveyors
