Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an entry-level apprentice to support a chemical processing facility. You will learn from qualified operators, assist with daily processing tasks, and maintain clean, safe operating areas.

The role includes basic lab duties during absences and collaboration with shift and shipping supervisors. Requires a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment; expects completion of probation and evaluation periods; prior experience with SAP or MS Office is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Successfully complete a 90-day probationary period after hire.
• Internal candidates must complete a 120-day evaluation period and test.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

Job description

• Act as an apprentice to qualified operators in a chemical processing facility
• Assist operating personnel as directed by the Shift or Shipping Supervisor
• Perform basic chemical processing duties under guidance
• Clean equipment and maintain housekeeping in operating areas
• Perform laboratory analysis and Lab Aide duties during absence periods
• Adhere to plant safety and regulatory policies
• Complete required evaluation periods and skill-measuring tests
• Operate the drumming manifold in shipping
• Achieve all components of Process Plant Fundamentals accountabilities
• Support the Site Production Plan, Site Shipping Plan, and Site ISO Certification
• Perform other duties assigned to the production utility position

Requirements

• High school education or equivalency (GED) required
• Successfully complete a 90-day probationary period after hire
• Internal candidates must successfully complete a 120-day evaluation period and test based on generally accepted skill measuring techniques
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects/priorities/tasks simultaneously
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Outlook, and SAP
• Interpret and use paperwork/forms encountered on the job
• Able to work a rotating shift schedule including some nights and weekends
• Ability to regularly move and/or lift up to 60 lbs, wear appropriate PPE, and climb stairs and/or ladders
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Must not require sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future
• 2+ years of progressive experience in maintenance or chemical operations is preferred
• Experience with packaging, liquid transfer operations, and commercial-sized operations is preferred
• Associate degree in Applied Science in Engineering Technology Manufacturing Option, Applied Process Technologies—Chemical Operator Option, or related degree, plus 1–2 years of chemical manufacturing experience, or a combination of education and experience, is preferred
• Understanding of basic chemistry concepts, including phosphorus
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and symbols
• Ability to use mathematics as it relates to operator job tasks
• Ability to make various types of measurements as required
• Knowledge of Gallipolis Ferry plant layout and equipment location
