Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America in DeRidder, LA, is hiring an Production Operator Apprentice for a two-year program. The role involves working across mill departments, operating cranes, lift trucks and heavy equipment, and progressing toward a 'C' Operator classification.

Starting pay is $26.02/hour with a 60-day probation and semiannual increases. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts and meet safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 24 months of full-time work experience with 12 months industrial experience in the last 36 months.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating day/night shifts and overtime.
• Good communication skills and a strong safety/attendance/teamwork background.
• Authorized to work in the United States and possess a valid driver's license.
• Preferred: 5+ years in industrial/manufacturing setting or equivalent military experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties across multiple departments to become a 'C' Operator.
• May drive a lift truck and operate heavy equipment as required.
• Process and monitor equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
• Assist in Paper Machine, Shipping/OCC, Woodyard, Pulp Mill and Powerhouse tasks.
• Support Emergency Response Team readiness and safety practices.
