Job summary

Carpenter Co. is seeking a production worker for first shift to manufacture products using primary and secondary processing equipment or hand assembly.

Responsibilities include reviewing job standards, ensuring zero non-conformances, recording scrap, applying labels, and maintaining safety and housekeeping while following all company procedures. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read simple instructions and write simple correspondence.
  • Basic math skills: add/subtract two-digit numbers; multiply/divide by 10s/100s.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Operate molding press/equipment per Company procedures.
  • Review job standards before running production.
  • Assure product meets established quality criteria of zero non-conformances.
  • Correctly record scrap every hour per work instructions.
  • Correct application of all internal and external labels when required, including removal of old labels from returnable packaging.
  • Correct application of lot control numbers.
  • Review daily of all applicable quality alerts.
  • Immediately notify Production Supervisor of discrepancies to quality checks or conditions out of the normal operating condition.
  • Communicate production and quality issues/concerns with associates during staff meetings.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in respective areas.
  • Participate in team problem solving activities and continuous improvement activities.
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety and environmental procedures.
  • Wear required PPE (safety glasses, ear plugs, close toed shoes/boots with rubber sole base).
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

SUMMARY: Manufacture products utilizing primary and secondary processing equipment or hand assembly. Following all procedures and work instructions, achieve optimal productivity, quality, and safety assuring internal and external customer satisfaction. This is a 1st shift opportunity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate production and quality issues/concerns with associates during staff meetings

  • Participate in team problem solving activities (communication meetings, shift meetings, etc.,) and continuous improvement activities
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety and environmental procedures
  • Wear required PPE (safety glasses, ear plugs, close toed shoes/boots with rubber sole base)

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, or schedule form.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
