Carpenter Canada Co. is seeking a production worker for 1st shift in Michigan. You will operate molding press/equipment, review job standards, and ensure quality criteria with zero non-conformances. You will record scrap and apply labels with accuracy while following safety procedures.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to OSHA rules, effective communication in staff meetings, and strong housekeeping in manufacturing environments. Occasional overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate molding press/equipment per Company procedures.
  • Review job standards before running production.
  • Ensure product meets quality criteria with zero non-conformances.
  • Record scrap hourly according to work instructions.
  • Apply and update labels on returnable packaging when required.
  • Monitor lot control numbers and report discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Review quality alerts daily and address issues with the team.
  • Communicate production and quality concerns in staff meetings.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in assigned areas.
  • Participate in team problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Follow all safety and environmental procedures, wear PPE, and adhere to policies.

Job description

SUMMARY: Manufacture products utilizing primary and secondary processing equipment or hand assembly. Following all procedures and work instructions, achieve optimal productivity, quality, and safety assuring internal and external customer satisfaction. This is a 1st shift opportunity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following but will not be limited to. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate molding press/equipment per Company procedures
  • Review job standards before running production
  • Assure product meets established quality criteria of zero non-conformances
  • Correctly record scrap every hour per work instructions
  • Correct application of all internal and external labels when requires, including removal of all old labels from returnable packaging
  • Correct application of lot control numbers
  • Review daily of all applicable quality alerts
  • Immediately notify Production Supervisor of all discrepancies to established quality checks or any condition identified to be out of the normal operating condition
  • Communicate production and quality issues/concerns with associates during staff meetings
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in respective areas
  • Participate in team problem solving activities (communication meetings, shift meetings, etc.,) and continuous improvement activities
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety and environmental procedures
  • Wear required PPE (safety glasses, ear plugs, close toed shoes/boots with rubber sole base)
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, or schedule form.
