Job summary

3M is seeking a Production Operator for the 2nd shift in Moncure, North Carolina. You will operate machinery, assemble products, and monitor quality while using computer systems to enter data and track inventory.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, flexibility for overtime, and ideally 1 year of manufacturing experience. Training and cross‑training across multiple areas are available to boost versatility and teamwork.

Job description

Production Operator 2nd Shift (2:00 pm to 10:00 pm)

Location: Moncure/Pittsboro, North Carolina

Responsibilities
  • Ensure consistent, high‑quality production by operating machinery, assembling products, packaging finished goods, and inspecting output to meet quality standards.
  • Support on‑time delivery and customer satisfaction by following established operating procedures and customer specifications.
  • Drive efficient operations by accurately using computer systems to run production processes, enter data, and maintain inventory records.
  • Increase operational flexibility and team effectiveness through cross‑training and operation of equipment across multiple areas, including mixing, tripper floor, coloring, C&S operations, and shipping.
  • Maintain steady production flow by providing break relief for team members and supporting uninterrupted operations.
  • Improve process reliability and product quality by performing and analyzing standard and non‑standard manufacturing tests and making informed process decisions.
  • Reduce downtime and support safe, efficient operations through visual inspections, preventative maintenance, and strong housekeeping practices.
  • Strengthen teamwork and problem‑solving by clearly communicating process status, issues, and improvement opportunities with fellow team members.
  • Deliver accuracy and consistency by operating production‑related computer systems and sampling, splitting, and grading equipment at a high level of precision.
Qualifications
  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher completed and verified prior to start.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and overtime as needed.
  • Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience.

Pay and Benefits

The starting rate of pay for this position is $23.92 per hour. This represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
