Job Summary

Join the Nutrition & Biosciences family at IFF, a global leader in the industrial biotechnology sector. We develop innovative enzymes and bio-products to enhance performance and reduce environmental impact across various industries including cleaning, textiles, animal nutrition, and grain processing.

Position: Operator

Location: Gibson City, IL

We are seeking Operators to work in a unionized, industrial production environment. The role involves rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with some positions requiring twelve-hour or swing shifts. We offer a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, vacation, holiday pay, and a bonus plan.

Sign-on Bonus: $2,500 for day shift hires and $3,500 for night shift hires, paid out over one year.

Starting Wage: $20 per hour, with wage increases after 45 days in line with union rates.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Operate machinery used in the production process.
2. Examine products to ensure quality standards are met.
3. Observe equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions.
4. Adjust operating equipment as needed.
5. Clean and lubricate machinery.
6. Work in high noise areas.
7. Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items manually or with equipment like hoists or forklifts.
8. Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
9. Handle hazardous chemicals safely.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Ability to work safely with proper protective equipment.
3. Comfort with computerized control systems.
4. Ability to tolerate hot and cold conditions.
5. Good physical health.
6. Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
7. Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
8. Effective communication skills.
9. Ability to select proper tools and equipment.
10. Previous industrial production experience is a plus.
