The person hired for the position of Production Operator will work at our Decatur, AL location .

Your Skills and Expertise :
Required :
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this 3M Production role, in compliance with U.S. labor and safety laws.
  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Ability to work a 12-hour day and night rotating shift (approximately 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM & 6:00 AM
  • Ability to work overtime work, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Minimum one (1) year of plant and/or manufacturing experience in a public, private, government, or military environment
  • Applicants meeting the basic qualifications may be required to take and pass 3M elected testing as a part of the selection process.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Desired :
  • Post-high school education
  • Experience with control charting, material handling, packaging, chemical manufacturing, and hazardous waste management
  • Experience working with computers in a manufacturing setting
  • Attention to detail, prioritization, self-motivation, teamwork, problem solving, analytical thinking, effective communication skills, strong work ethic, initiative, and a focus on safety
  • Perform work requiring general knowledge of production principles where productive process depends on an ability to detect and correct the defect. Basic understanding of Lean principles
  • Operate PLC or DCS controls, hand tools, various powered trucks, valves, and some test equipment; set up and operate equipment where moderate adjustment is required
  • Close attention to detail, such as process conditions, is required at all times to avoid costly rework, production delays, safety incidents or scrap; continuously monitor equipment, process and product quality; ability to operate in an environment where complex machine operations happen simultaneously; ability to plan ahead in the process and production schedule to complete tasks in a timely fashion; execute proper in ‑ process tests
Testing :

Candidates must successfully complete 3M Manufacturing Employee Selection Process (MESP) testing.

This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work their full schedule in Decatur, AL.
