Job summary

Autocar is seeking a Production Operator in Birmingham to work in self-directed teams on the assembly line, ensuring productive operation and quality outcomes.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year in vehicle manufacturing, with the ability to read BOMs and drawings, perform backflushes, and support quality control. A strong mechanical aptitude is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Over one year of experience in a vehicle manufacturing/industrial environment preferred.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to read a Bill of Materials.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings; demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Perform backflushes correctly and ensure the 5S standards are followed.
• Ensure quality control is met.
• Help gather data for part shortages and repetitive defects.
• Provide feedback to supervisors and QC.
• Participate in root cause problem solving.
• Train new employees to meet expectations in assigned workstations.
• Be able to oversee or perform installations outside of standard conditions.
• Be able to perform the work at four stations within the department or other departments.

Job Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

WORK CONDITIONS:

Standard manufacturing plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses and steel toe shoes will be required and reimbursed in manufacturing, or industrial areas.
