Job summary

Autocar is seeking a Production Operator to contribute to a self-directed work group responsible for the productive operation of the Assembly line. The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to 5S, quality control, and data collection for shortages and defects.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED, 1+ year in vehicle manufacturing or industrial settings, and basic Excel/Word skills to read BOMs and interpret drawings. Training will be provided in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or preferred
• Over one year of experience in a vehicle manufacturing/industrial environment preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; able to read a Bill of Materials
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings; demonstrated mechanical aptitude
• Perform backflushes correctly and ensure 5S is followed
• Ensure quality control is met
• Assist in gathering data for part shortages and repetitive defects
• Provide feedback to supervisors and QC
• Participate in root cause problem solving
• Train new employees to meet workstation expectations
• Be able to oversee or perform installations outside standard conditions
• Be able to work at four stations within the department or other departments

Responsibilities

• Operate in self-directed work groups/teams to run the Assembly line productively
• Function in the assembly line to ensure smooth production flow
• Support quality control through checks and data collection
• Assist in data gathering for part shortages and defect trends
• Provide feedback to supervisors and QC and participate in root cause analysis
• Train new employees to meet workstation expectations
• Oversee or perform installations outside standard conditions
• Ability to work at four stations within the department or other departments
• Maintain 5S practices and perform backflushes as required

Job Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

• A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to open and read a Bill of Materials
• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings; Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
• Perform backflushes correctly and insure the 5s is followed
• Ensure quality control is met
• Help gather relevant data for part shortages and repetitive defects
• Provide Feedback to supervisors and QC
• Participate in root cause problem solving
• Train new employees to meet expectations in assigned workstations
• Be able to oversee or perform installations outside of the standard conditions
• Be able to perform the work at four stations within the department or other departments

WORK CONDITIONS:

Standard manufacturing plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses and steel toe shoes will be required and reimbursed in manufacturing, or industrial areas.
