Job summary

Roehm America LLC seeks a Process Operator for our Bay City, Texas facility. This role focuses on safe operation of plant equipment, maintaining product quality, and supporting environmental and safety goals.

The position requires shift work, adherence to safety guidelines, and the ability to pass physical and background checks. We offer competitive compensation and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Process Technology Degree or relevant experience.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Must read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Able to complete the operator training program to certification.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate pumps, compressors, reactors, distillation columns and other plant equipment within safe operating range.
  • Make changes to the operating process necessary to maintain product quality.
  • Monitor the performance of plant equipment and process conditions; read meters and gauges; take routine readings.
  • Operate control room instrumentation systems.
  • Draw samples for laboratory testing and perform lab tests on process streams.
  • Promptly respond to process alarms and constraints.
  • Start-up/shut-down process equipment as needed.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance.
  • Participate on Emergency Response Team (fire-fighting).
  • Work with maintenance and other departments to meet safety, environmental, production and cost goals.

WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS

Roehm America LLC is currently seeking to fill Process Operator positions supporting ourBay City, Texas facility. The successful candidate should be able to promote a safe environment through a proactive approach to Operations, ensuring environmental compliance, operating reliably, and producing the highest quality product. The Process Operator will work with maintenance and all other departments to ensure safety, environmental, production and cost goals are met. Employees in this position receive work direction from the Shift Supervisor and work with other operators in performing routine plant operating duties, including, but not limited to the following:

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  1. 1. Safely operate pumps, compressors, reactors, distillation columns and other plant equipment within safe operating range
  2. 2. Make changes to the operating process necessary to maintain product quality
  3. 3. Monitor the performance of plant equipment and process conditions. Read flow meters and temperature and pressure gauges. Take routine readings on process variables.
  4. 4. Operate control room instrumentation systems
  5. 5. Draw samples of products from the process for laboratory testing
  6. 6. Perform lab testing on some process streams
  7. 7. Promptly respond to process alarms / constraints
  8. 8. Start-up/shut-down process equipment
  9. 9. Prepare equipment for maintenance
  10. 10. Participate on Emergency Response Team (fire-fighting).
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
  • Process Technology Degree or Relevant Experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Required to work 12 hour rotating shift work schedule (including nights, weekends, holidays). Operating needs of the unit dictate work schedule. Will be required to work overtime; standby coverage assigned on some off days.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Currently possess or able to obtain a TWIC Card
  • Will be required to understand and follow plant policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to read and communicate verbally and written using the English language.
  • Must be able to complete the requirements of the formal operator’s training program. To become fully certified, candidate will be required to successfully complete the entire certification process.
  • Must follow all plant safety guidelines and policies, which includes the wearing of fire-retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Position requires the ability to frequently walk, stand, climb, bend, lift up to 50 pounds and perform a wide range of physical activities; ability to work at various heights; entry into confined spaces; work in various weather and hazardous conditions; ability to listen and follow instructions.
Testing Requirements
  • Successful candidates will be required to take a physical examination, which includes a drug and fitness for duty exam and criminal background check
