Job summary

Röhm in the United States is seeking a process engineer to provide expertise for polymerization processes, ensuring safe, efficient production and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

You will troubleshoot problems, optimize operations, maintain control systems and documentation, and drive continuous improvement across capital projects and product quality.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical engineering or related field.
  • 1–5 years experience in a chemical plant with accountability for unit operations.
  • Proficiency in process control systems, instrumentation, and automation.
  • Experience with extrusion systems, blending operations, and material handling equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise for polymerization processes to ensure safe, efficient production.
  • Troubleshoot process problems and equipment malfunctions across reactors and related systems.
  • Maintain process documentation including SOPs, P&IDs, and electrical/equipment drawings.
  • Maintain and improve PLC/DCS control systems, instrumentation, and data analysis.
  • Ensure changes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Hazards and Operability Reviews (Hazard Analyses) and Pre Start-up Safety Reviews for changes.

Job Description:
WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS

Provide engineering expertise for a polymerization processes, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. Responsibilities include process optimization, troubleshooting, equipment reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Provide technical support to troubleshoot process problems and equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain process documentation including System Operating Procedures, P&IDs, electrical and equipment drawings, and equipment files.
  • Troubleshoot process issues across reactors, blend tanks, extruders, pumps, and conveying systems.
  • Maintain and improve process control systems (PLC/DCS), instrumentation, and sensor data analysis.
  • Ensure process changes implemented are in compliance with all applicable regulatory and company safety, environmental, industrial hygiene, and loss prevention standards and permits.
  • Conduct Hazards and Operability Reviews (Hazard Analyses), and Operational Readiness
  • Reviews (Pre Start-up Safety Review) for appropriate changes, and ensure timely completion of resulting action items.
  • Seek out and initiate process changes to improve the safety, environmental security, industrial hygiene, loss prevention, product quality, efficiency, or cost of the department.
  • Design, prepare and obtain approval for development runs for new products, product changes, and process changes.
  • Develop and manage capital projects related to the product and process performance as directed.
  • Drive continuous improvement in product quality, energy efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Train operations personnel on process safety, control systems, and equipment operation.
  • Develop a subject matter expert status for process operation and control.

Salary range $78,500 - $117,700 per year. The posted salary range reflects the national average for this role. Final compensation may vary based on location, experience, and qualifications. This role is eligible for an annual performance bonus in addition to base salary.
