Job summary

Danfoss in Ames, IA seeks a Production Operations Technician for the first shift to coordinate assembly, testing, painting, packaging, and shipping of products. You will monitor lines, perform maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and support process improvements on the shop floor.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with basic mechanical skills. Training is provided; expect overtime and collaboration with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; or 1–3 months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production lines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting machinery.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to implement process improvements and optimize workflows.
  • Perform quality control inspections to ensure products meet standards and customer specifications.
  • Document and report production issues, equipment failures, or quality concerns to stakeholders.
  • Follow all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist in training new production operators on equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production-related issues.
  • Rotate among all stations within each assembly cell performing repetitive work at a consistent pace to meet customer demands.
  • Work overtime, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

The Impact You'll Make

A Production Operations Technician encompasses the job functions required to coordinate parts, assemble, test, paint, package, and ship company products. The POT performs a variety of manufacturing tasks that generally include assembling, operating equipment, setting up machines, testing, and dismantling unit assemblies and complex subassembly workstations according to standard work instructions.

This is a1st Shift position, located in Ames, Iowa.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Monitor production lines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify any issues or malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and machinery problems to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.

What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical or vocational training/certification
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee has the potential to be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is at a level the company recommends hearing protection. The employee must be physically able to wear appropriate PPE.
