Job summary

Danfoss in Ames, IA is seeking a Production Operations Technician to coordinate parts, assemble, test, paint, package, and ship products. The POT works with equipment, sets up machines, tests, and dismantles subassemblies per standard work instructions.

This is a 3rd shift role (Sun–Thu, 10:00 pm–6:00 am). You will monitor lines, troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance, support process improvements, ensure quality, and train operators in safety practices as part of a collaborative manufacturing

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills required.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication and adjustments.
  • Collaborate with engineering to implement process improvements.

  • Follow safety protocols and participate in operator training.
  • Rotate through stations and perform repetitive tasks to meet demand.

A Production Operations Technician encompasses the job functions required to coordinate parts, assemble, test, paint, package, and ship company products. The POT performs a variety of manufacturing tasks that generally include assembling, operating equipment, setting up machines, testing, and dismantling unit assemblies and complex subassembly workstations according to standard work instructions.

The POT performs a variety of manufacturing tasks that generally include assembling, operating equipment, setting up machines, testing, and dismantling unit assemblies and complex subassembly workstations according to standard work instructions.

This is a 3rd Shift position, with work hours from Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Monitor production lines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify any issues or malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and machinery problems to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting machinery to ensure proper operation.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to implement process improvements and optimize production workflows.
  • Perform quality control inspections to ensure products meet company standards and customer specifications.
  • Document and report any production issues, equipment failures, or quality concerns to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist in training new production operators on equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance, to resolve production-related issues.
  • Rotate among all stations within each assembly cell performing repetitive work at a consistent pace to meet customer demands.

Attendance: Rarely absent or late, pre-schedules and pre-approves absences.

Safety: Follows safety & housekeeping standards and procedures, uses appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), looks after the safety of others.

Quality: Follows standard work procedures, self acknowledges and corrects mistakes, works to avoid errors and get it right the first time.

Required Qualifications
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical or vocational training/certification
Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee has the potential to be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is at a level the company recommends hearing protection. The employee must be physically able to wear appropriate PPE.
