Job Overview:

Responsible for operations administration and for significant contributions to the formulation, development, implementation, and administration of company policies and business goals. Organizes, plans, directs, and controls all operations functions. Supervises and appraises the activities of subordinate managers to ensure services are professionally delivered and customers are well served.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Monitor the plant floor, coaching hourly staff and supervisors to achieve safety, production, and service goals.
  2. Oversee scheduling of products and machinery.
  3. Evaluate operational effectiveness through analysis, inspections, and measurable criteria, providing reports to management.
  4. Coordinate operations functions closely with warehouse management.
  5. Develop and implement plans for systems, processes, and personnel to meet strategic objectives.
  6. Collaborate on growth strategies to surpass sales, profitability, and business goals.
  7. Ensure staff training, effectiveness, and optimal utilization; communicate policy and procedure changes.
  8. Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment; conduct performance appraisals and provide feedback.
  9. Ensure coordination with related departments and monitor service levels.
  10. Lead a high-performance team, recruiting and retaining team members.
  11. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and company policies.
  12. Manage discipline and participate in union meetings as needed.
  13. Adhere to HACCP, SQF, FDA policies, and GMP standards.
  14. Drive associate engagement.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Oversee facility functions including maintenance and legal compliance.
Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications:
  • HACCP & SQF certification preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of P&L statements, accounting, HR, purchasing, facilities, security, and quality control.
  • Understanding of union contracts and legal/regulatory requirements like OSHA, HACCP, and sanitation standards.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, supply contracts, and shipping requirements.
  • Familiarity with compliance, ethics policies, and inventory management.
Work Environment:
  • This is an onsite role at one of UNFI's locations, such as a distribution center, office, or manufacturing room.
Physical Demands:
  • Work is primarily in a temperature-controlled environment; may require sitting, standing, manual dexterity, and working at heights or in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to work with environment containing nuts, soy, wheat, sesame, milk, and spices.
