Overview

HarperAudio is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Production Manager to join our fast-paced and collaborative audiobook production team. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in an environment that blends creative execution with structured, data-informed operations. Reporting to the Director of Production, the Senior Production Manager will lead the coordination of title workflows, manage vendor and internal partnerships, and contribute to the long-term evolution of our production infrastructure.

This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support audiobook production across frontlist and backlist titles, from pre-production through final asset delivery.
• Ensure consistency in audio quality, narrator performance, technical specifications, and metadata across a high volume of projects.
• Oversee vendor performance and delivery expectations.
• Coordinate schedules, troubleshoot issues, and communicate updates across teams and vendors.
• Supervise and support direct reports. Prior experience managing staff—including other managers or team leads—is strongly recommended.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and mentorship to help team members grow in responsibility and impact.
• Support departmental planning, capacity management, and team resourcing in coordination with the Director of Production.
• Oversee project pipelines using Airtable for production management and tracking across titles.
• Help implement and refine systems that scale with production growth.
• Serve as the point-person for digital asset management and archiving systems, helping to define, document, and enforce best practices for internal teams and external vendors.
• Serve as a lead production liaison to production studios, editorial, and enterprise tech vendors.
  
  

Qualifications

• Experience: 7+ years in audiobook production working with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Team Leadership: Proven experience managing staff, including other managers or team leads.
• Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent workflows and initiatives using production- and product-management tools like Airtable and Jira. Familiarity with Agile methodologies is a plus.
• Technical Audio Fluency: Working knowledge of audio production tools and quality control practices (e.g., Reaper, Izotope RX, Pozotron, Descript).
• Data & Operations: Comfortable managing structured production data and coordinating across systems for scheduling, QC, and metadata integrity.
• Vendor & B2B Experience: Skilled in managing vendor relationships and working with enterprise platforms; experience with RFPs and partner evaluation processes.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
