Job summary

Fischer Technology in Windsor, Connecticut is seeking a hands-on Production Manager to lead our tactile manufacturing operation, ensuring safe, on-schedule, high-quality output while preparing for future growth.

You will build processes, scale capabilities, and work across Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Planning to drive continuous improvement and lean initiatives.

This onsite role offers a unique opportunity to shape a growing North American operation within a global technology company.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of manufacturing or operations experience with increasing leadership responsibility.
• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience managing a production or manufacturing operation.
• Experience leading production teams in technical, industrial, instrumentation, electronics, mechanical, or precision-manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, inventory, quality, and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated experience implementing process improvements, lean manufacturing, or operational excellence initiatives.
• Experience scaling production, launching new products, transferring manufacturing processes, or building new production capabilities is strongly preferred.
• Ability to understand technical products and manufacturing processes.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Service.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, leadership, ERP/MRP and Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead tactile production and own day-to-day performance of the tactile manufacturing operation, ensuring safe, efficient, on-schedule output meeting quality standards.
• Lead and develop the production team, establishing clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards.
• Manage production schedules, priorities, capacity, and resources to meet customer requirements.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve throughput and delivery performance.
• Establish and monitor key production KPIs, including on-time delivery, productivity, quality, throughput, labor efficiency, and manufacturing cost.
• Review and improve manufacturing processes, production flow, workplace organization, material handling, and overall efficiency.
• Implement lean manufacturing, standard work, visual management, and other continuous-improvement methodologies.
• Establish robust processes and documentation to reduce dependency on individuals and increase resilience.
• Identify opportunities for automation, tooling, fixtures, and process improvements.
• Work with Engineering and Quality to improve manufacturability and product reliability.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a hands‑on Production Manager to lead our manufacturing operations in Windsor, Connecticut.

At the same time, we are looking for someone with a broader operational perspective who can help Fischer prepare for the next phase of growth—including the potential introduction of XRF production and additional manufacturing capabilities in Windsor.

This is an opportunity for an experienced manufacturing leaderto manage today's operation while building the processes, organization, and infrastructure needed for tomorrow.

The successful candidate will combine strong production management skills with a broad understanding of operations, supply chain, quality, engineering, planning, inventory, cost management, and continuous improvement.

Essential Job Functions

• Lead Tactile Production
• Own the day‑to‑day performance of Fischer Technology's Tactile manufacturing operation, ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to Fischer's quality standards.
• Lead and develop the production team, establishing clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards.
• Manage production schedules, priorities, capacity, and resources to meet customer requirements.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve throughput and delivery performance.
• Establish and monitor key production KPIs, including on‑time delivery, productivity, quality, throughput, labor efficiency, and manufacturing cost.

Build a Scalable Manufacturing Operation

• Review and improve manufacturing processes, production flow, workplace organization, material handling, and overall efficiency.
• Implement lean manufacturing, standard work, visual management, and other continuous‑improvement methodologies where appropriate.
• Establish robust processes and documentation, including work instructions, procedures, and standards, that reduce dependency on individual employees and increase organizational resilience.
• Identify opportunities for automation, tooling, fixtures, and process improvements.
• Work with Engineering and Quality to improve manufacturability and product reliability.

Prepare for Future XRF Production

Fischer Technology may expand its Windsor manufacturing capabilities to include XRF products and related assemblies.

You will play an important role in determining what the organization needs to successfully support that expansion.
