Job summary

At Mazzella, the Production Manager coordinates daily schedules and leads team activities to achieve manufacturing objectives safely, on time, and cost-effectively while upholding the One Mazzella commitment to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth.

This role requires 5 years of production supervisory experience in manufacturing, strong leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to drive continuous improvement, training, coaching, and effective communication across teams.

Qualifications

  • 5 years in production supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Strong leadership and ability to motivate teams across shifts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and planning abilities.
  • Ability to identify cost-saving strategies and implement promptly and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety standards are enforced throughout all areas.
  • Investigate, report, and act upon incidents or near misses.
  • Communicate daily on the team’s priorities: Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Productivity, and On Time Delivery.
  • Coordinate communications between operations and support functions.
  • Review production reporting to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
  • Support hiring, evaluation, promotion, discipline, and termination decisions.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing methods; inspect equipment and estimate repair costs.
  • Initiate requisitions for equipment, materials, or contracted repairs.
  • Motivate employees to participate in continuous improvement and suggest ideas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Production Manager effectively trains, develops, coaches, and appraises team members in a consistent manner.   • Responsible for ensuring that safety standards are enforced throughout all areas

  • Responsible for workplace organization utilizing 6S method to create efficient and effective work environment
  • Responsible for coordinating communications between operations and support functions
  • Reviews all production reporting and ensures productivity meets or exceeds targets
  • Consistently achieves quoted rates and works with preproduction team to identify any variances
  • Monitors and ensures compliance to company principles, policies, procedures, and work instructions in accordance with Company Quality Assurance Standards
  • Provides input on hiring, evaluation, promotion, discipline, and termination
  • Motivates employees by setting clear expectations and work direction through effective communication
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods
  • Inspects equipment and machinery and recommends repair or replacement. Estimates time and material costs of repair or modification work.
  • Initiate requisitions for necessary equipment materials, rental equipment or contracted repairs.

Reviews operating reports and inspection records to identify faulty equipment.

  • Motivate employees to be part of the continuous improvement process by asking “Why?” and “Is there a better way to do this?”; Encourages the teams to submit their ideas
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required, lifting industry strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written & verbal forms
  • Good interpersonal skills; can easily relate to people
  • Ability to identify cost savings strategies and implement promptly and effectively
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required
  • Detail oriented, computer skills
  • Leadership ability to ensure effective teamwork
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to and help drive change
  • 5 years in production supervisory experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
