Job summary

At Mazzella, a leading overhead bridge crane systems provider, we seek a Project Manager to lead contract sales projects from kickoff to delivery, collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, and external contractors.

You will drive planning, budgeting, scheduling, and continuous improvement using MMS processes to ensure on-time, on-budget execution and clear stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of project management or engineered customer projects experience.
  • Ability to influence and lead teams across the organization.
  • Team player with ability to influence consensus.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent math skills and PC literacy; MS Project preferred.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with multi-tasking.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; internal/external communication.
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning, execution, and communication from inception through completion.
  • Implement MMS processes: KPIs, CARs, supplier performance, Kaizen, training, and support.
  • Manage budgets and timelines in collaboration with production and sales.
  • Control project scope, specs, and schedule changes.
  • Direct all project activities per schedule and ensure execution.
  • Document and manage changes in project scope.
  • Track technical problems to identify patterns and reduce root causes.
  • Foster continuous improvement using performance metrics and improvement plans.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Brief Description

The Project Manager will lead and manage projects related to new contract sales for overhead bridge crane systems and related equipment. Working closely with the Crane Contracts department manager, Contracts Sales team, Estimating, and Fabrication & Production teams, the Project Manager will ensure effective project execution across all phases. This role also involves supporting various departmental and business improvement initiatives.


Requirements


  • Project planning, execution, and communication from inception through completion

  • Implement key processes from the Mazzella Management System (MMS): KPIs, CARs, Supplier Performance, Kaizen projects, training, and support

  • Direct, plan, and establish project budgets and implementation timeliness that support business goals in collaboration with production, sales

  • Manage all project scope, specs and schedule changes

  • Manage all project activities in accordance with the schedule and take responsibility for overall execution of work

  • Document and execute all changes in scope of project

  • Track and analyze technical problems to identify patterns/trends and determine cost effective ways to eliminate root causes

  • Drive a continuous improvement culture/mindset with respect to project delivery and leadership demonstrated through the utilization of performance metrics and defined performance improvement plans

  • Ability to lead and direct cross-functional teams to include engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and outside contractors

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education

A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management, Operations Management or related discipline; in the absence of a degree, directly related job experience serving in a project management role, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement


Project Manager Experience & Skills


  • At least 3 years of project management or engineered customer projects, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required

  • Ability to manage teams through influence rather than absolute authority

  • Must be a team player and able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus

  • Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities; strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required

  • Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required; Microsoft Project preferred

  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the demonstrable ability to communicate appropriately both internally and externally

  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding deadlines
