Job summary

Neogen Corporation is seeking a Production Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are met. You will manage multiple teams, drive continuous improvement, and align production with business objectives.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership balanced with strategic thinking to support growth and integration of new products at our Randolph, WI site. This is an on-site, multi‑team leadership position with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations with significant leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven track record in managing manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and quality systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret manufacturing metrics and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP/manufacturing software preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with both technical detail and strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor manufacturing supervisors, team leads, and frontline staff to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee daily production to meet schedules and SOPs for manufacturing, packaging, labeling, and storage.
  • Implement and maintain production scheduling systems to meet delivery timelines and optimize resource use.
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback to supervisors and team leaders.
  • Monitor labor utilization and production efficiency; identify improvements to reduce downtime and increase throughput.
  • Track KPIs such as throughput, yield, downtime, and equipment utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain SOPs and production documentation for consistency.
  • Collaborate with Quality to resolve non-conformances and conduct OOS investigations.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance on flow, capacity planning, and capital projects.
  • Assist budgeting and capital planning for staffing, equipment, and improvements.
  • Support Plant Manager and cross-site initiatives; stay updated on best practices.

The Production Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity goals are consistently achieved. This strategic leadership role involves managing multiple teams and production areas, coordinating cross-functional collaboration, and aligning production with business objectives.

This position is central to driving the smooth integration of new products into manufacturing and fostering a high-performance culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will balance hands‑on experience with big-picture thinking to elevate operational performance and support the organization’s growth trajectory.

This is an on‑site position based at our Randolph location, with occasional travel as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor manufacturing supervisors, team leads, and frontline staff, building a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous performance improvement.
  • Oversee daily production of products, ensuring all manufacturing, packaging, labeling, and storage activities meet production schedules and SOPs.
  • Implement and maintain robust production scheduling systems that meet delivery timelines and optimize resource utilization.
  • Provide coaching, development, and performance feedback to supervisors and team leaders.
  • Monitor labor utilization and production efficiency; identify and implement improvements to reduce downtime and increase throughput.
  • Track and act upon key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, yield, downtime, labor efficiency, and equipment utilization.
  • Ensure manufacturing operations comply with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and production documentation to ensure process consistency.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control Unit to resolve non-conformances, execute OOS investigations, and uphold compliance.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to support production flow, capacity planning, and capital projects.
  • Assist with budgeting and capital planning related to staffing, equipment, and operational improvements.
  • Provide leadership support to the Plant Manager and contribute to cross-site initiatives.
  • Stay current on industry best practices and evolving technologies to identify and assess improvement opportunities.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
