Job summary

Interstate Assembly Systems, a division of Interstate Companies, seeks an experienced Production Manager to lead manufacturing operations in Surprise, Arizona. This hands-on leadership role oversees production, materials management, quality, and continuous improvement while ensuring customer satisfaction and strong operational performance.

The ideal candidate has a background in manufacturing operations, continuous improvement, and team development, with travel as needed and a focus on safety

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5-7 years in manufacturing leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement.
• Experience with production planning, inventory, and quality systems.
• Ability to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and profitability goals are achieved.
• Provide leadership to production, planning, materials, engineering support, quality, warranty, and technical teams.
• Develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency and quality.
• Monitor operational and financial metrics to drive informed decisions.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships and satisfaction.

What You'll Do

As Production Manager, you will:

• Lead daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and profitability goals are achieved.


• Provide leadership and direction to production, planning, materials, engineering support, quality, warranty, and technical teams.


• Develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and operational excellence.


• Monitor key operational and financial metrics to drive informed business decisions.


• Establish and maintain strong customer relationships while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.


• Identify opportunities for business growth through diversification of products, services, and customer markets.


• Drive accountability and performance through effective communication, coaching, and employee development.


• Ensure compliance with all company safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.


• Support strategic planning and execution to achieve branch and organizational objectives.


• Represent Interstate Assembly Systems within industry associations and community organizations.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Previous leadership experience as a Plant Manager, Production Manager, Operations Manager, or similar manufacturing leadership role.


• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production planning, inventory management, and quality systems.


• Experience managing business performance through financial metrics, budgeting, and operational reporting.


• Proven background implementing Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or related methodologies.


• Strong leadership, team building, and employee development skills.


• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.


• High school diploma or equivalent required.


• Ability to travel occasionally as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or related field.


• Experience within metal fabrication, assembly, industrial manufacturing, truck equipment, or heavy‑duty vehicle industries.


• Lean or Six Sigma certification.
