Job summary

Flex is seeking a Production Manager for its Coopersville, MI site to lead high‑volume automotive manufacturing, covering multi-level assembly, testing, and quality assurance to achieve cost, quality, and delivery goals.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will drive process stability, workforce effectiveness, and cross-functional collaboration, shaping production plans, budgets, and strategic initiatives for the function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Automotive preferred).
• 5+ years manufacturing leadership experience.
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt strongly desired.
• Experience implementing world-class manufacturing systems and tools.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking for a Production Manager located in Coopersville MI. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager guides and coordinates activities of employees engaged in the following areas of a manufacturing department; multi-level assembly, electronic card/system testing and quality assurance to attain production goals consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements. Leading complex manufacturing operations while ensuring process stability, workforce effectiveness, and alignment with customer expectations in a high-volume Automotive environment.

What a typical day looks like:

• Guides department activities to hold up design of new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and helps on test procedures.
• Explores technology trends and market demand to plan projects.
• Contributes with management, production, and marketing staff to resolve manufacturing feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
• Travel expiation of 10% domestic and international
• Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
• Partners with team and management in the development of the strategic plan and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for the function.
• Reviews and establishes material, equipment, and manpower resource requirements.
• Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply to meet customer requirements.
• Coordinates production activities with other functional groups such as planning and distribution.
• Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
• Accountable for controlling manufacturing operation and ensuring that production quality and cost targets are met.
• Working in extremely complex problems where the research of situations or data from an evaluation of intangible factors.
• Reviews budgets and schedules required by management.
• Regulate relations with the executives and/or major customers to maintain relationships with them.
• Resolve controversial situations, customer negotiations, or influencing and persuading management levels for the achievements of the plant.

Here is some of what you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field) or equivalent experience in Automotive Industry
• 5+ years of manufacturing leadership
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt strongly desired.
• Expertise in world class global standard practice implementation of systems and tools
• Expertise in very complex functional/technical area or broad breadth of knowledge in multiple areas; understands the strategic impact of the function across sites.
• Advanced people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
• Knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes, Automotive industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
• Expert use of the following tools may be required: Office Skills: telephones, word processing, spreadsheet (PC), presentation and database software.
• Expert functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills
