Job summary

System One, Inc. in Birdsboro, PA, is hiring a Production Manager to supervise daily machine shop operations, including CNC and manual machining, setup, tooling, inspection, and flow management.

You will assign work, monitor progress, ensure safety, review travelers and blueprints, and coordinate with planning, engineering, quality, and maintenance to keep jobs moving. The role offers an onsite, direct-hire path with full-time hours and a focus on continuous improvement and meeting delivery

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily machine shop activities including CNC and manual machining, setup, tooling, inspection, and material flow.
• Assign work to machinists, handwork assemblers, and support staff based on production schedules and deadlines.
• Monitor production progress and adjust resources to meet delivery and quality targets.
• Ensure safety, PPE, and housekeeping standards are followed.
• Review travelers, blueprints, work instructions, and specs before production begins.
• Support troubleshooting of machining issues and process inefficiencies.
• Verify inspections are completed per quality requirements and customer specs.
• Train and mentor employees in setup, machining methods, and shop standards.
• Coordinate with planning, engineering, quality, maintenance, purchasing, and management to resolve issues.
• Maintain production records and shift handoff information, promoting continuous improvement.

• Supervise and coordinate daily machine shop activities, including CNC machining, manual machining, setup, tooling, inspection, material flow, and job prioritization.
• Assign work to machinists, handwork assemblers, and support staff based on production schedules, skill levels, machine availability, and customer deadlines.
• Monitor production progress throughout the shift and adjust resources or workflow as needed to meet delivery, quality, and productivity targets.
• Ensure employees follow safe work practices, company policies, lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, and housekeeping standards.
• Review job travelers, blueprints, work instructions, setup sheets, inspection requirements, and specifications to ensure jobs are understood before production begins.
• Support troubleshooting of machining issues, tooling problems, machine downtime, fixture concerns, dimensional nonconformances, and process inefficiencies.
• Verify that first-piece, in-process, and final inspections are completed according to quality requirements and customer specifications.
• Train, coach, and mentor machine shop employees in proper setup practices, machining methods, quality expectations, safety procedures, and shop standards.
• Coordinate with production planning, engineering, quality, maintenance, purchasing, and management to resolve issues and keep jobs moving through the shop.
• Maintain accurate production records, labor reporting, scrap documentation, downtime notes, and shift handoff information.
• Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to reduce setup time, improve machine utilization, reduce rework, minimize waste, and improve workflow.
• Participate in employee performance discussions, attendance tracking, corrective action recommendations, and staffing needs as appropriate.
