• Oversees weekly payroll, annual reviews and follows through on disciplinary action.
• Monitors daily line output, units per man hour, breakage and raw material variances.
• Recruitment of new hires to fill vacant and seasonal positions as required.
• Participates in monthly plant safety meetings.
• Conducts monthly safety inspections.
• Ensures OSHA/EPA compliance; reports machinery problems to maintenance and follows up on repairs.

Job description

The QUIKRETE® Companies, the largest manufacturer of packaged concrete products in the US and an innovative leader in the commercial building, home improvement products, & DOT industries is seeking a self-motivated/proactive Production Manager for our New Berlin, NJ plant.

The person in this position has the responsibility for the overall management, direction and coordination of manufacturing activities. This includes carrying out production objectives at the lowest cost while meeting quality control standards all in a safe working environment.

• Oversees the supervision of plant personnel in a two shift operation.
• Establishes and maintains an accident-free work environment
• Responsible for supervision of plant personnel and manufacturing equipment
• Ensures products meet quality control standards
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain sufficient inventory for customer needs
• Review accuracy of data for daily production reports
• Oversees weekly payroll, annual reviews and follows through on disciplinary action
• Monitors daily line output, units per man hour, breakage and raw material variances, etc.

• Ensures that plant machinery and equipment is in compliance with established OSHA and EPA policies and requirements
• Reports any machinery or equipment problems to maintenance personnel and follows-up to ensure repairs or adjustments are satisfactorily completed
• Maintains an organized and clean warehouse
• Experience in Microsoft Suite required

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and/or other post-secondary education is an asset
• Supervisory/management experience required along with the ability to build and maintain a team focused on continuous improvement
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on work ethic
• Must have strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with other departments
• Must be able to monitor and manage adequate inventory controls
• Must have good communication skills and work well with customers
• Must be able to occasionally travel to company meetings and other plant locations

Working Conditions

• Varying weather conditions in the local area including: temperature extremes, dust, rain, wind and snow
• Exposure to gasoline, diesel fuel, motor oils, anti-freeze, cement dust and electrical systems
• Hearing protection and respiratory use required in designated locations
• Requires the physical endurance to work 50-60 hours per week over a period of 5 to 6 days
• Requires the ability to climb heights (steps, ladders and ramp walkways with handrails)

This is an industrial environment, requires attention to SAFETY, physical dexterity, and intermittently required to use hands, arms, legs, feet and body, and trunk to carry, lift/lower, push/pull up to 80 lbs.
