Main Duties & Responsibilities

Job Summary: Normal 3rd shift hours are 8 PM - 4 AM. Any daily overtime would change it to a 6 PM start time for 10-hour days and a 4 PM start time for 12-hour days.

Manages all hourly third shift Production and Maintenance employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Coordinates the manufacturing schedule and production activities for the 3rd shift to achieve budgeted productivity, shipping, and fill rate goals.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Reviews general status of production schedules to ensure that schedules are being met, and if necessary, assigns or adjusts schedules and/or personnel to balance and expedite work through production areas.
2. Ensures desired product quality levels are achieved through proper operator training and inspection techniques.
3. Recommends methods and procedures to control and improve product quality.
4. Makes recommendations related to quality, efficiency, machine utilization, scrap, budget status, etc.
5. Acts to improve the overall performance of production areas as needed.
6. Coordinates with Production Superintendent and PIC team to set priorities for customer orders.
7. Revises schedules based on work order specifications, priorities, and resource availability.
8. Coordinates with Maintenance Supervisors to focus on proper maintenance tasks and schedule downtime for preventive maintenance.
9. Utilizes MaintainX for maintenance needs and communication.
10. Analyzes production reports to evaluate conformity with standards and resource utilization.
11. Collaborates with department supervisors on work progress and process changes.
12. Prepares reports on work progress and machine downtime.
13. Maintains inventory of materials and parts.
14. Coordinates production activities with other areas to address manufacturing needs and issues.
15. Administers company policies regarding attendance and performance.
16. Communicates regularly with employees and participates in training and safety programs.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 3 to 5 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Background in manufacturing technology and line operation experience. Practical experience in supervision, quality, and product reliability. Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to read, comprehend, and write reports, use logic and data to solve problems, and communicate effectively. Physically, it requires mobility in an office and industrial environment, ability to finger and grasp materials, speak effectively, and listen attentively.
