Main Duties & Responsibilities

Job Summary: Manages all hourly third shift Production and Maintenance employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Coordinates the manufacturing schedule and production activities for the 3rd shift to achieve budgeted productivity, shipping, and fill rate goals.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

1. Reviews general status of production schedules to ensure that schedules are being met, and if necessary, assigns or adjusts schedules and/or personnel to balance and expedite work through production areas.
2. Ensures that desired product quality levels are achieved through proper operator training, operation and inspection techniques, use of tools, and overall job responsibilities.
3. Recommends methods and procedures to control and improve product quality.
4. Makes recommendations related to quality, efficiency, machine utilization, scrap, budget status, etc.
5. Takes corrective action when necessary to improve the overall performance of production areas.
6. Coordinates with Production Superintendent and PIC team to set priorities for specific customer orders.
7. Revises schedule according to work order specifications, priorities, and resource availability.
8. Coordinates with 1st shift Maintenance Supervisor to verify maintenance focus and schedule machine downtime for preventative maintenance.
9. Utilizes MaintainX for Maintenance needs and communication.
10. Reviews and analyzes production and operational reports to evaluate conformity with standards and resource utilization.
11. Confers with department supervisors to monitor progress and communicate changes.
12. Compiles reports on work progress and machine downtime to inform production planning.
13. Maintains inventory of materials and parts needed for production and expedites spare parts delivery.
14. Monitors attendance records.
15. Addresses problems related to quality, efficiency, machine utilization, safety, and manpower.
16. Participates in activities such as training and safety programs to enhance team effectiveness.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Background in manufacturing technology, line operation, supervision, quality, and product reliability. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to foster cooperation and effective communication.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to read, comprehend policies, procedures, instructions, and write reports. Ability to use logic and data to solve problems, assess needs, and communicate effectively. The role requires mobility in an office and industrial environment, ability to finger and grasp materials, speak effectively, and listen with intent.
